If you’re playing Pokemon GO in South Africa, chances are you downloaded an unofficial version of the game or changed your device’s region.

For those of you who didn’t change regions to access the game from another store, your app may now no longer be working.

This is due to the game’s 0.37.0 update for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS, which blocks the use of rooted or jailbroken devices and/or apps downloaded outside of their respective store.

The update has been implemented to combat the a massive scourge of hacking and cheating currently affecting the game, but it is also affecting South African users.

This also means that even if you obtained the game through totally legitimate means you could still be blocked from using the app if you are using any custom firmware or game-tampering tools.

Are you still playing Pokemon GO? Let us know in the comments below and in our forums.
