A No Man’s Sky player has been data mining the PC version of the game, and has released their findings on NeoGAF.
Among many strange assets, this NeoGAF user has found a mesh for what appears to be the player character model.
Named “Astronaut01“, the asset does not feature complete textures or functional components such as a skeleton and animations.
The asset is grouped together with the files for the player’s backpack and the helmet HUD, implying that it is the physical model for the character.
It is important to note that the player cannot see their own body in No Man’s Sky.
Regarding No Man’s Sky’s multiplayer capabilities, the data miner has not found any code or assets relating to multiplayer, and the incomplete status of the player character model implies that it is not meant to be seen by other players.
