Best games you can play this week – robots and raptures

12 September 2016

A relatively quiet start to September gets flipped upside down this week, with some huge games arriving just in time for the warmer weather, including some big-name franchise sequels and highly-anticipated new IPs.

ReCore

16 September 2016 (Xbox One, PC)

ReCore is one of the most interesting looking games coming in the remainder of 2016, and it touches down this week.

One of the creators behind Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, and the makers of Metroid Prime are behind this third-person action adventure, which stars Joule — one of the last surviving humans — who’s fighting her way through a destroyed desert world, working with a series of quirky mechanical pets to help her fight robotic villains.

Players will have to use Joule’s skills as well as the various abilities of her mechanical allies to survive her journey. The intriguing concept and vivid world has us quite excited for this one.

Bioshock: The Collection

16 September 2016 (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

The brilliant Bioshock series is getting a second-life thanks to a new remastered collection for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Bioshock: The Collection will feature Bioshock 1, 2, and Bioshock Infinite, all single-player DLC for all three games, and a never-before-seen video series with commentary from series creator Ken Levine.

It’s a great package, with three great games – a perfect opportunity for newcomers to the franchise to finally play the award-winning FPS titles, or long-time fans to relive them.

I’m excited about Akiba’s Beat. I couldn’t care less about Bioshock. And Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel II launched on PS3/Vita this month…. will prolly not be mentioned. We’re also soon gonna see SAO: Hollow Realization soon, which looks like a Log Horizon rip off.
