Valve recently updated Steam’s Subscriber Agreement to include an official age restriction for its service.
According to the new agreement, no one under the age of 13 can become a subscriber of Valve’s service.
Furthermore, “Valve will not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13”.
Obviously a number of games on Steam’s service will continue to be blocked by an age-gate in order to verify that you are old enough to access mature content.
While the age restriction has been floating around for a while, this marks the first time it has featured so prominently in the Subscriber Agreement, barring anyone under 13 from subscribing to the service.
This follows the recent gambling controversy surrounding a number of games on Steam.
