Microsoft has promised to continue releasing upcoming Call of Duty games on PlayStation and also plans to bring the series to the Nintendo Switch.

The statement reassured any doubts about upcoming Activision Blizzard titles remaining non-exclusive.

“To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation through the term of any existing agreement with Activision,” said Microsoft President and Vice Chairman Brad Smith in a post on Microsoft’s official blog site.

Smith confirmed that this would extend even after any existing agreements with Sony have ended.

“… we have committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love.”

Additionally, Smith revealed that Microsoft is also interested in taking similar steps to support Nintendo’s platform, as he believes it would be “the right thing for the industry, for gamers and for our business.”

This is likely Microsoft’s attempt to ease regulators’ concerns over the Activision deal presenting any threat to competition within the video game market and, consequently, ensure the deal’s approval.

After the FTC’s recent role in the collapse of Nvidia’s acquisition of Arm, it is no surprise that Microsoft is being cautious.

However, it remains to be seen whether all Activision Blizzard titles will be playable across every platform in the future or if the agreement will only be limited to Activision Blizzard’s most popular titles.
