Assassin’s Creed Liberation has been pulled from Steam, with its page on the site indicating it was at the request of its publisher.
Additionally, the game will no longer be accessible from 1 September.
Ubisoft previously announced that several games were being decommissioned on 1 September, so the pulling of Assassin’s Creed Liberation is not surprising – a full list of the decommissioned games can be found here.
While you will no longer be able to access any of the game’s multiplayer functions or purchase some of the games following 1 September it is currently assumed that those who already own copies should still be able to play the games.
Ubisoft stated this move allowed the company to free up resources to produce new titles.
While unfortunate, this move isn’t as severe as the pulling of movies by Sony we reported on last week.
Both of these decisions do, however, highlight some of the concerns around digital ownership.
