The prequel game to 2003’s Beyond Good and Evil, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in development for over a decade.

A recent report from Exputer has reaffirmed that while the game is years away, it is still being developed.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 was first teased by Ubisoft in 2008 and has been stated to be an action-adventure game.

However, after more than ten years of development, fans only a cinematic trailer, early gameplay footage, and general statements indicating the game is still being developed.

This led many to wonder if the game would ever actually release and what sort of state it would be in if it did.

These concerns were further justified when in 2020, the game’s director, Michael Ancel, left the project.

Ancel did state the game was “going super well”, but since his departure two years ago, there have been no new official updates on its status.

However, according to the report, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has begun external playtesting as of last month.

Along with this, gameplay footage was also leaked from the playtesting.

While encouraging that game is still being worked on, the leaked footage showed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is far from complete and could require many more years of development.

While not entirely good news it is encouraging to know the game has not been shelved entirely and there is still hope for an eventual release.
