A Doom Eternal mod support portal might be on the way based on changes to the game’s Steam backend.
According to SteamDB, on Tuesday, March 12, changes were made to add the launch executable ‘DOOMModePortal.exe’ along with the description ‘launch mod portal’ to the game’s files.
While Doom Eternal does have a modding community there has been little in the way of official support – so this potential update is an encouraging sign that it may be on the way.
The potential release of modding support for Doom Eternal is further supported by comments made by producer Marty Stratton in 2019 in an interview with Game Informer.
“We’ve actually done things technically that are getting us closer to doing mod support, but it won’t be immediate. I think longer term. We made technical decisions years ago that we’re still moving away from, and they’re getting us closer to those kinds of things,” he said.
With this in mind, it seems there is a strong case to be made for Doom Eternal soon officially getting mod support.
Doom Eternal is an epic FPS where players will battle the armies of hell as the Doom Slayer – carving their way through hordes of demons in frenetic, challenging combat.
