Far Cry 3 features 4-player co-op campaign

5 June 2012

What’s better than one-player, two-player, and three-player co-op? Why, that would be four-player co-op, and now it’s a feature of Far Cry 3.

Ubisoft did a stage demo of the four-player co-op campaign at Sony’s E3 keynote presentation last night, and also announced – surprise! – that PS3 gamers would be getting a free, exclusive DLC add-on when the game launches in September, although no further information about that was supplied.

The co-op campaign is a separate mode from the game’s single-player campaign, and features mission-based gameplay that tasks players with completing set objectives together. Remember, there’s no “I” in “team”, because that would be spelling it all wrong.

The multiplayer modes will include features such as team-boosting battle cries, team mate revival, and calling in team support weapons. After each match, players can choose to show mercy or punish foes in “fun and twisted ways” through interactive cut-scenes.

A map editor for the game was also confirmed.

Far Cry 3 returns players to the series’ original tropical setting, with new protagonist Jason Brody trying to escape an archipelago of islands populated almost entirely with crazy people. Sounds like a pretty standard Pacific holiday package to me.
