The Sims 4 was shown off for the first time at EA’s Gamescom 2013 presentation, with executive producer on the Sims 4, Rachel Franklin walking us through an overview of the game.
The Sims 4 will focus on emotion-based gameplay, and the interactions between the Sims.
Actions that Sims perform will be based on emotional states. Sim interactions will remain persistent in the game, and previous interactions will modify options further down the line.
According to Franklin, an emphasis will be placed on the story-telling of the relationships between the Sims. For example, objects in the house will affect the mood and possible interactions of the Sims.
New creative tools include the ability to push/pull house room designs; and now players can pick up fully decorated rooms and move them to a new location, mitigating the hassle of re-designs.
The Sims themselves can also be moulded through an intuitive interface – more like working with a clay model than moving sliders, as in previous Sims games.
