Steam Holiday Sale and Holiday Auction

12 December 2014

The Steam Holiday Sale will kick off on Thursday, 18 December 2014, and run until 2 January 2015.

Reports first emerged that the sale would be taking place after PayPal users stated receiving emails informing them of the digital event.

Gaming publications then approached the various powers at be, and it was confirmed that the Steam Holiday Sale would take place over the aforementioned dates.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Steam’s sales, expect tons of great games for as little as $1.

Update

Valve has shut down the Steam Auction after users began to exploit the system.

The company said there have been “some issues with Gems and the Steam Holiday Auction has been temporarily closed”.

Valve also announced that its Holiday Auction would begin soon, where gamers can recycle their Community items in their inventory lists and receive Steam Gems which can then be used to bid on new games.

“Nearly 200,000 games are up for grabs in the first ever Steam Holiday Auction,” said Valve. “Starting Monday, December 15, titles will be awarded to the top bidders and will continue every 45 minutes until the Holiday Sale starts.”
