PC shipments reached a record decline in 2015

report from IDC shows that PC shipments fell by 10.6%, year-on-year, for the 4th quarter of 2015 – the biggest decline ever recorded.

According to a reprt by Engadget, Gartner’s figures painted a marginally better picture – a drop of 8.3%.

Apple and Asus were two brands which bucked the trend, with Q4 growth figures of 2.8% and 0.8% respectively.

HP was the single biggest loser, dropping 10.1%.

Engadget said industry analysts pegged the decline on longer PC upgrade cycles, in combination with the increase in powerful smartphones and tablets on the market.
