So, this news pretty much came out of nowhere.
Nevertheless, for as concerned as everyone has been with Gamescom news, such as Microsoft’s and EA’s press conferences, as well as some of the awesome games on show, Sony had a few things up their sleeves.

It’s quite mobile and small indeed. Image courtesy of Geek Culture.
Sony has just announced a new mobile projector as an accessory to the PS4 at a special media event, which is unexpected to say the least.
At the event, journalists were able to get hands-on experience with the mobile projector that was running a demo of the upcoming PS4 exclusive Until Dawn.

It really is a nice looking piece of kit! Image courtesy of Geek Culture.
Here are some of the key features the new projector has:
- Laser Technology.
- Auto Focus & Free Focus modes.
- The device projects up to 120-inch screen size, from about 3.6m away.
- 1920 x 720 resolution.
- Brightness rating of 32 lumens.
- HDMI/MHL connection.
- Ability to stream video from any device, over Wi-Fi of course.
- Has a 3000mAh battery, which lasts for up to 2 hours of usage.
- The projector has a tiny internal speaker to output audio, but this is not really an issue as most people will use headsets, or an external speaker system that can be used with the available stereo output this device has.
- The form factor of the mobile projector is quite compact ,when compared to other similar devices, and is similar in size to two Xperia phones stacked on top of one another.
The only issues we see with this mobile projector is the resolution it outputs which appears to be 720p and the quality of the brightness, which are all factors that can alter the experience.
Additionally, the price-point for this device needs to be just right to make this a possible purchase for PS4 owners.

That form factor is great! Image courtesy of Geek Culture.
However, the added mobility such a projector offers, especially when the device allows you to take your PS4 into a number of environments and settings where a TV may not be available, is also something to consider as a selling point.
Currently, other details surrounding the device haven’t been revealed yet, but most media outlets speculate the mobile projector will be launching October, 2015.
We can’t wait to see what this tiny mobile projector does in combination with the PS4.
