The Last of Us – new gameplay video and screenshots

15 August 2012

Sony and Naughty Dog have released a trailer for the Last of Us to celebrate Gamescom 2012. The visual gameplay montage is set to the song “Alone and Forsaken” by Hank Williams, Sr.

The Last of Us takes players on a journey through a world ravaged by a viral outbreak which wiped out most of humanity, and by all accounts, it’s shaping up to be quite a harrowing, visceral survival-horror experience.

The Last of Us is genre-defining experience blending survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Cities are abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. Remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a young teenage girl who’s braver and wiser beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

The Last of Us is set to release sometime in early 2013, exclusively on the PS3.
