Woo! Load shedding, woo!

I feel the same, but I guess I understand their reasoning that it's better for the economy to try and do it outside work hours. Doesn't make it any better however...
 
If possible (and I'm sure it is) do these sheds while people are sleeping. Doesn't it make sense to turn off power when residents are asleep in their homes.

My dad said when he worked for Telkom and they had to perform these operations at times that would not influence businesses and such, so that they'd perform maintenance at these hours, since no one is awake and actively using systems that could have interruptions.

Well, the load shedding happens when the demand exceeds what can be produced, and that only happens when demand is at it's highest during the day. Hence the fact why load shedding happens most during the week and during the day.

At night, the power stations run full taps open to ensure there is some surplice power for the day to come.

Still comes down to poor future planning. Why did we not have such nonsense many years back? What has changed in the last few years that has caused "load shedding" to become the norm.
 
We went off 3 times yesterday, the so called "schedule" had us off from 8pm to 10:30pm, we were off from about 3pm to 10pm...

I'm afraid to go home, no load shedding here. Our client is right by the power station, haven't had load shedding once.
 
I've only had load shedding on Monday for about two hours. I keep on hearing that stage 2 has been implemented, but currently it hasn't been affecting me. I'm not complaining though :D
 
We haven't been load shed since last year. I went and bought a generator and gas stove fearing the worst after the last round of shedding, and now the generator is just a nice big door stop. At least the gas oven and so comes in handy.

Gas cooks better than electric oven anyway.
 
Be it stage one or two, power will be off here at work at 16:00, and at home between now and 10:00-10:30.

According to what I read.
