The official Witcher 3 thread

Not only that and the obvious "downgrade" debacle. I won't go as far as to say the game is broken, but it is in definite need of attention as there are clearly broken elements. The fact that this game was clearly developed with console in mind as it appears it was prioritized in development, and it shows!

Apart from all the bullshit and drama that we've been talking about, let's not cover all that again. I'm still helluva enjoying it and get engrossed in it and I will pour hours into it.

Such as? I'm just curious what seems to be broken. I played more than 12 hours yesterday (yes, really) and the only glitch I saw was a tree clipping through a building wall. Yes, everything is not perfect and sometimes Roach gets stuck running against a tree etc. but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's a (massive) open-world game, of course there are going to bugs/glitches. I haven't played the PC version myself, but a few of my friends have and none of them have told me about any major issues they've encountered. I'm really curious as to what major issues you guys have encountered on PC.

No offense to PC gamers on here, but I am getting tired of "PC elitists" thinking the gaming world owes them something. Just because you have a R30k+ PC capable of running circles around the consoles doesn't mean everybody has. I have a PC too, sadly it is too old to run Witcher 3 so I play it on my PS4 instead. So CDPR we're a little dishonest about the visuals and everything. So what? If you don't like it don't buy it and don't play it.

Now can we please stop talking about the whole downgrade issue and get back to discussing how awesome the game itself is? Pretty, please? I don't want to come into this thread everytime and just see negativity everywhere.

I'm happy for you and I'm glad it runs on your console so let me put this out there. I know what I am talking about when it comes to pc gaming, I get paid to build rigs for people that want the best possible experience so I pick out the absolute best hardware for the games they play as such I've learned how to run games and tweak games. You're not playing on pc so you won't be able to check this, but check your cpu and gpu utilization for the game on pc, gpu sits @50-60% and cpu is up and down, that tells me the game is poorly optimized and it is.

Let's also address the blind fanboynism of people on this forum, the fucking game is a console port, a poor one.
Cdpr lied out of their ass about the graphics to the very end, they claimed there were no downgrades, they banned people from their forums when they asked about said downgrades, they deleted threads about it. Now tell me this is a company that cares about its customers?

Yip they have a small workforce, they couldn't develop different game versions for all the platforms but THEIR main focus has always been pc, only this time around they went the lazy way around and gave us a console port with poor controls, 30fps cut scenes, graphics options that are simple on/off sliders, poor cpu and gpu utilization no matter what hardware you're running.

I don't get how people swear an allegiance to a developer no matter what...I really don't.

The Joker I will say your CPU utilisation sounds a bit weird. Mine is sitting at a constant 80% while the game is running, haven't checked the GPU yet though.

Believe me, I've come to know that you know what you are talking about when it comes to PC's. :p

I also entirely understand your point of view and that you feel betrayed by CDPR because they didn't deliver what they promised and what you expected to get. At the end of the day though, no amount of complaining is gonna change anything and they still delivered an awesome experience regardless of it's flaws. I've played, loved and finished games with way worse issues than the ones you guys describe. I've finished games at between 17 - 22 FPS for crying out loud. If the game entertains me and is enjoyable I am willing to look past any flaws it has.

I'll be the first to admit that I am a fanboy when it comes to CDPR and The Witcher 3. I'm not ignoring what they did, but I am saying that I don't care. The game is still good enough for me to not care about drama surrounding it's release. If this game worked on my PC, I would still love it regardless of how many issues I encountered. I'm really hoping you guys can get past the issues and even if you don't like CDPR anymore just try to enjoy the amazing experience they have crafted.

ok i have an actual game-related question :)

what's with the "adrenaline" thing? I see the 3 little bars fill up, but so what? does not appear to do anything noticable. I am only level 2, so is it something that unlocks some sort of finisher move later on ?

It has different uses depending on how you build your character. E.g. there is an abilty that allows you to cast signs with adrenaline if you are out of stamina.

Check gpu utilization.
I'm gonna test @ 1080P just to be sure its not a issue with higher resolutions.
Check your gpu utilization and let me know bud.

Mate and you know I am a huge cdpr and witcher fan, this is why I feel so betrayed.

I don't claim to be a PC elitist as you are well aware, like yourself, I am a gamer. I play PC and consoles, for the game. But when a game crashes in menu screens because of shitty place holders, that's a problem (you can actually see where test was supposed to be). I played for a around 4-5 hours last night and experienced 2 crashes to desktop, 3 hangs and unresponsive program and the occasional not starting. Clearly there's issues. The frame rate drops to the mid 20's during cut-scenes coming from a solid 55fps running around in free roam. I don't think I have a shitty rig, sure I don't have the best either but I'm comfortable playing at 40fps and up. As long as it looks good to me and still playable.

I don't claim to be on a high horse, I am fortunate enough to have and own console and a decent gaming rig, because I worked damn hard for it. And I took a little offense to that statement. But I can understand the point that The Joker is making as this is his only platform.

I know dude, and that's completely understandable. That's why I'm hoping you and the other guys who feel betrayed can solve the technical issues you have and get past the other issues and start to enjoy the game. I know if you let yourself enjoy the game you are going to LOVE it.

I'm really sorry if you took offense man. Wasn't aimed at you or anybody in particular. I meant it more as a general term for all the hate the game has been getting all over the damn internet. I also own multiple consoles and (not so decent anymore :p) PC.

Like I said, I haven't played on PC yet and I was really curious as to what issues you guys are encountering. The stuff you mentioned does sound kak, but I'm sure there will be a patch (or other solution) for the technical issues soon. If not, you have consoles right? :p

ok so i upgraded another skilll point and figured out how to add these to the "adrenaline slots". added the fist one off the FAST ATTACK tree and QUEN tree.

but how to i actually "use" these ? do they kick in automatically once an adrenaline bar is filled ?

Think you might be talking about the mutagen slots? The right side of the screen when you're at the character menu? If that's what you're talking about. The skills you put there (together with a mutagen) will give a boost to one of your stats, as long as colour of the skill matches the colour of the matugen.

As far as I can tell Adrenaline only affects your skills on the left hand side. Read the descriptions for the skills on the far right of the combat (red) skill tree.

Holy shit. I'm going to come right out and say this is the most retarded paragraph I've read today.

"Stop being angry because you were lied to. You're not entitled to the truth!"

And if you don't like it when people discuss the negative aspects of games, don't come into threads. You're not entitled to see only discussion on your own terms.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I'm not saying you can't be angry because you we're lied to. I'm saying get over your anger and start enjoying the game. Please don't put words in my mouth, so to speak.

I never said I'm entitled to anything but the idea of this thread is to discuss the game. Now I get that includes what's wrong with it, but do we really need to change the whole thread into a discussion about how CDPR pissed everybody off? All I'm asking is that people try and get past the issues they have the game and at least try to enjoy it.

Can anyone tell me how to turn off the objective trials on the minimap? It doesn't seem like there is an obvious option to toggle it. Geralt does not have GPS and I don't want to be led to my objectives by the nose.

Edit: NVM, found it.

And I'm telling you to grow up. Nothing in life pisses me off so much as blind fanbois trying to stifle criticism, no matter how 'noble' the intent. You need to accept that people have differing opinions and that they can discuss them as they see fit. If you don't like it when people have discussions you don't like, don't come back to the thread. This thread is for feedback and as long as people are on topic (which discussion of CDProjekt Red is), then they're allowed to voice that feedback just like you're allowed to gush over the game. You don't have to read it.

This is one of the main reasons I hate discussing games on MyGaming. Too many pisswillies crying when you criticize their favorite games.

Why so hostile man? I'm not looking for an argument with you. So I'm a fanboy, so what? I'm entitled to my opinion just like you and in my opinion, it's a waste of time to dwell on all the issues surrounding the game. Like I said, I understand where people are coming from with their negativity. I would probably also have been pissed off if I upgraded my PC for the game and it turned out to be not all that necessary. But, I can look past the issues and enjoy the experience. All I'm saying is that people should at least try to do that. I'm not saying you can't talk about the issues but I'm seeing almost nobody talk about the actual game. If you wanna talk only about the negatives than go ahead, I never said anybody can't talk about what they want. I just asked everyone if it where possible to rather discuss the game itself a bit more.

Oh, and about the trial on the minimap, that is kind of annoying. Also looking for a way to turn it off. Best I've managed is to make the HUD smaller so I don't see unless I'm looking right at it, but it's not really a solution as the bread crumb trial is still there. I suppose one could turn off the minimap entirely (not sure), but then you will lose other stuff that you might want/need.

Pretty much... :p

On topic: I'm almost at level 8 doing missions around the Velen area. Just made my first kind of big decision that turned out to be not the best choice. Let's just say I pissed off a lot of people from a certain village. However, I decided before starting that I'm not gonna change any decision I make by loading a save and that I will live with the consequences. How are you guys approaching this? Do you stick with your decisions or will you replay a whole section if you don't like the outcome of something you did?
