The official Witcher 3 thread

Lord seems this is another Watch Dogs fiasco where there's more debate about what was lost or cut than about the actual game, which after sinking around 5 hours into last night (on PS4), seems to be pretty damn incredible. Sure, I noticed the occasional pop-in, the occasional split second stutter during a cutscene, but everything else more than makes up for the occasional issue. It is a massive game, we can't exactly expect perfection. I haven't been following the development too closely so can't comment on lies spouted by the devs or whatever but at the end of the day the game we got is still one hell of an accomplishment imo. And this is coming from someone who didn't even play the first 2 so I'm not some Witcher fanboy. I'm kinda glad I'm not part of the master race, it seems to be a stream of constant disappointment for the members.

Pretty much... :p

On topic: I'm almost at level 8 doing missions around the Velen area. Just made my first kind of big decision that turned out to be not the best choice. Let's just say I pissed off a lot of people from a certain village. However, I decided before starting that I'm not gonna change any decision I make by loading a save and that I will live with the consequences. How are you guys approaching this? Do you stick with your decisions or will you replay a whole section if you don't like the outcome of something you did?

One save file!

Only option is to restart the game if I don't like something.

What difficulties did everyone choose when starting the story?

I went with Blood and Broken Bones!

Was tempted to go for Blood and Broken Bones, but went Story and Sword instead. I want to enjoy the story while engaging in moderately difficult combat. I have died a few times, my tactics were too offensively focused, that's why - have since changed my approach. :p

Nice! A bit risky, but nice. I'm using about 5 or so save files and then stick to one of those per quest. I.e. when busy with a quest I will save my game very often using the same slot and move to a different slot when I start a new quest.

Also took the sword and story difficulty and it's a nice challenge. Groups of lower leveled enemies can still kill you pretty quickly if you're not careful. Luckily I just played over a hundred hours of Bloodborne so I'm used to luring enemies and trying to fight them one-on-one which makes things a bit more manageable. However, one needs to be more defensive in this game and that's taking some getting used to coming from Bloodborne's mostly offensive combat. I have died a few times though, mostly by being careless and forgetting to block and use Quen.

I pretend it's like real life, there is no loading a save file in the real world. :p

Blood and Broken Bones! Prepare to chow a ton of food lol. :D

I keep forgetting to stock up on food and then I end up in some dungeon with no health and no potions or anything! Also need to remember to keep weapons and armour in good condition.

Though I haven't started it yet, I'm going for Blood and Broken Bones. I love the challenge.

I'm probably too much of a noob for Death March though :D

Exploring, I found an abandoned shack with lootable crates/chests. I got a schematic for a chest piece, had it made, only to later realise that I'd already been wearing that kind of chest piece already... What a waste of orens and material.

Graal. I found a way to turn off the trail. Go to options, display, hud config and then you can set "Path to objectives on minimap" to off.

Edit: Saw now you edited your post and found it already.

Lol, tel me about it. Did the same thing and now I only have 12 crowns left and no food.

I'm still puzzled by the adrenaline thing :-(

If I go to character screen, I can see my fast attack and Quen upgraded to level 2. I then went to each and hit "activate" and it appears in square boxes to the right.

But how does this kick in during combat ? What do the 3 bars under Witcher logo mean ?

The boxes to the right are for mutagens. You will find them by looting some enemy corpses. The mutagens, like the skills, come in three colours: blue, red and green. You can only equip one mutagen at first, more slots unlock at higher levels. You can then enhance the equipped mutagen with skills of the same colour. Each skill added will increase the effect of the mutagen depending on the mutagen. E.g I have a blue mutagen and with 3 skills of the signs tree linked to it I get a 28% boost to sign intensity. You can also craft more powerful versions of mutagens by combining weaker ones in alchemy.

Adrenaline is something on it's own. Don't know the finer workings of it yet but I have seen skills that can use Adrenaline to heal you or to cast signs etc.

Wlad BeoTeK oh ok, I was getting the 2 concepts mixed up. Thanks.

In the bottom left corner you have your two food items, there is also a third slot there. What is that for and how do you action it?

It's for various items such as the crossbow, torch or bombs. Once you have one of those you can equip it from the quick menu and then use it in game.
