The official Witcher 3 thread

regarding ADRENALINE, very nice explanation here :

http://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/36lfm2/stamina_vs_adrenaline_vs_vitality_vs_those_3/

The 3 rectangles under your stamina is your adrenaline. It goes up as you deal damage, goes down as you take damage, higher adrenaline means higher damage. Certain skills allow you to cast signs with it, use remaining adrenaline to survive a lethal blow, use all 3 adrenaline bars to upgrade a sign to its maximum level when you use it(for that one specific use of the sign), and allow it to also increase sign intensity.

I'm glad to see lots of people are enjoying the game. Unfortunately for me, I'm very disappointed with it so far. The character models look fairly good, but the lighting looks terribly flat, and the foliage and grass, which takes up most of your screen most of the time, look totally horrendous. I really don't see anything that justifies the bad performance either. Add to that, the fact that despite the game running at over 60fps on my PC, it somehow always feels like 30-40 to me, I'm not sure why that is but it just doesn't feel right.

And just to make matters even worse for me, they pulled the same shit they did with Witcher 2, where they lock certain keys that I need to use from being rebound, forcing me to use my controller, which I would really prefer not to do.

I think the most disappointing part of all this, is that this is the second time my girlfriend bought me a game for my birthday that she knew I was really looking forward to, and then I was severely let down by. I'm not even sure if I'm going to play any more of it.

Yeah dude, the disappointment is real, I really don't think a lot of people get it but eh that's their own problem.

Oh so now 3 days after release when people can't cancel pre orders anymore they come clean...lol
Oh and now there was a downgrade, and maybe they shouldn't have shown the footage? Yet up until launch they claimed there was none..awesome lol

The Joker So I tested last night and while playing my GPU was running at 99% and CPU at an average of 85%.

I think this gives an reasonably objective perspective:

I think the main reason that I am still excited for the game is because I didn't buy the game for the visuals. I bought it because I enjoy Witcher games and I believe that CDPR make great games.

However, I understand that people are upset because of the lies and the lack of information in the weeks before release. This is compounded by the fact that CDPR only addressed the problem after release as Hiro showed in that article. I also understand that some people do buy games for graphics and I'm sure it is immensely disappointing that the game hasn't lived up to the standard that was presented before. I feel bad for the people in this situation that are disappointed, but it really shows why we shouldn't pre-order games at all.

I guess I care less about graphics than I thought. I think the game looks acceptable to very good and I'm having a pleasant RPG experience. I noticed the downgrade months ago when they started showing footage so there was no expectation of the 2013 footage. Hardly anyone is talking about how good the core game, voice acting and story is, we are so fixated on the graphics atm.

This is exactly how I feel too. There has been little to no criticism of the actual gameplay, RPG experience, acting, story etc. This tells me that it is still a great game albeit one marred by controversy. I think that is a pity in itself.

Loving this bloody game! First game in a very very very long time that's got my attention like this. WHY WORK WHY? I think I may take tomorrow off !!!

its not just the graphics its also the core stability of the game, and touching on the graphics this is supposed to be a NEXT GEN title, i expected Next level graphics, this in my opinion looks like a slightly better witcher 2 and even GTA 5 and Shadow of Mordor looks better most of the time than this.

touching on stability i installed the game last night, and it even crashed from the menu the first time, second time i started it up it ran fine, this game has some serious memory management issues and im sure this wasnt QA tested properly.

I would say GTA V has much better lighting and foliage but I disagree that Shadow of Mordor looks better, that game has some of the worst looking world geometry I've seen in some time.

I'm not too phased on the graphics and I've always said I'd enjoy it and will be enjoying it, it's still a great game (never denied that). I'm just finding it hard to enjoy it when I keep crashing just when I start getting sucked into it.

I had quite a few until I turned off the frame limiter (nVidia user). Played a solid 3 hour session last night with zero issues.

Aah yes, I went back to your post about some fixes and applied them. Thanks for that, now the cut-scenes and cinematics play nicely. I also removed the frame limiter (or set it to unlimited). Didn't have much time to play last night though, and never experienced a crash after applying those fixes (though I only played for around 30 minutes).

Nice, I'm loving the quests especially those that are just hinted at and dont even pop up in your quest log or only appear later after following a clue. Its very clever!

Yeah I sat and tweaked the graphics through the Nvidia panel and ini folder ( more than a hour ) and that seems to have sorted out the gpu utilization.
The textures in game are all over the place, some of it is fine but other textures are just rubbish, I came across a dog that had no face or legs only long lines with the textures completely messed up. Haven't had any more crashes though so I think I've sorted that.

There is a massive patch for pc coming in the next 5 days or so...apparently so will wait and see..

Onto the positive...Enjoying the game a lot, I'm about to hit lvl 11 with around 12 hours of play and taking it slow, I'm trying to do every side quest before moving on to the next part of the story.
