Please push up that hard drive lol. I have tears in my bright blue eyes.
Otherwise that is a lot better, turning into a very nice rig![]()
LOL to be honest with you the biggest hd I've ever had was 80GB

It kind of also depends what you want to do with this pc - get the best performance now or build in upgrading capability later. Because basically you won't be able to go higher with this motherboard, but what you can do down the line is get an am3 board and some ddr3 and swap out, then upgrade the cpu when you see something attractive. Or just get a lower cpu now and you have the capability to upgrade that when you have the money. I went the former route.
I'm also not altogether convinced on the wisdom of the 5770 - ok it has dx11 but dx11 takes a performance hit on a normal card, so to get that benefit you're going to be playing at something like 10% slower than 4870 speeds which for r2000 - I mean is it worth it? Couldn't you just get a 4890 and frankly you won't miss the difference anyway because there is basically ONE game that utilizes it? Then you'll have a ton more speed and I doubt you'll miss dx11.
I'm sure you can max out everything on a 5770 - just like I could with a 4850. But if you have r2k to spend I'd rather go for something faster like a 4890. That's my pref. 5770 only makes sense if DX11 is important to you. Benchmarks put it about head to head with a 4870 - win some lose some - and significantly behind the 4890.

The speed difference is substantial. Check the benchmarks - 4890 will be 15-20% ahead of 5770 on average. 5770 is crippled by 128 bit bus width - even ddr5 memory can't fully compensate. You can overclock it to perform about as well as a 260 but I doubt it would ever reach 4890 levels of performance. I was hoping for great things from the 5770's but looking through the reviews I'm quite disappointed. I see Prophecy has the 4890 for r2000.... isn't that about what you pay for the 5770? If prices are equal the 4890 is a no brainer. Otherwise rather go for a 5770 I suppose. I'd still prefer something more like a 260 but I go for speed 1st.
I would rather have a better CPU now and a less expensive mother board, by the time you going to get cash to upgrade your CPU then all that time that you been struggling will be over yes, but was it worth it? Ddr3 is dam expensive and not worth it, ddr2 now for lower level cash outs is totally worth it 4 gigs dd2 is great can run any game if you have a good GPU. So i would rather wait for the AM3 boards, and ddr3 to come down and then maybe think of upgrading now, as if you upgrade now you pay a hell of a price for those things, and you can not even use them to its full potential.
Totally agreed, but the 4890 from take2 is R2200 so for him that is R700 rand more, just for 128 bit more? Do not feel its worth it.
Ah screw it, 5770 it is still then. With a Phenom 965, going to be fooking awesome! And R550 motherboard. I'm sure it will still rock?
Some bench presses you can compare: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...-high-quality-1st-release/Fallout-3,1443.html
Well wish you all the best, i hope you really happy with you new pc. Best of luck
