Dungeon Siege 3

I actually have to force myself to play it. I don't really feel like it, so I just play it because I spent a shitload of cash on it. If I had to be honest, I'd say I got much better bang for my buck from Torchlight.

This just really feels like God of War with a few light RPG mechanics.

Heh, this game made me decide to reinstall Dungeon Siege 1. Unfortunately one of its disks is scratched to smithereens, so I need to torrent that disk overnight.

Time to play the real Dungeon Siege again. <3

Nice one. ;P

So... my verdict is that it's a pretty enjoyable game. I love the story, the characters, the dialogue (albeit some of the voice actors need a klap).

My only real gripe is the camera... Oh well... c'est la vie.

Glad you posted your verdict since we like similar games I trust your opinion a lot.

Really? :p Shucks :o

Well, I really do enjoy it (I'm not sure how I'd feel about it if I played solo, but co-op is pretty awesome). The issue is just with the camera in co-op: generally in games you view the camera "centre" as your location, so no matter how hectic combat gets, you always have an idea of where you are; it's something you tend to take for granted. The fact that the camera repositions itself depending on your co-op partner's movements (if they want to better position themselves to attack enemies with a certain ability) sort of confuses you and you lose track of your position in relation to your partner's. It takes a lot of getting used to.

There are also times when you try to move past objects, again the camera moves to follow your co-op partner and you instead find yourself running into the objects (often in towns). Also, if one of you is too far ahead and the other too far behind, neither of you can see the enemies in ahead.

I can understand why this camera would be useful if you were hot-seating but in online co-op or while using two separate screens? I just think it was such an incredibly stupid decision. I don't understand how it got through quality assurance--surely they noticed that at least one or two people testing co-op had ripped their hair out?

Well yeah, both love Gothic (well the PB versions) and Risen.

Well hopefully they will release the patch soon that will fix that problem so I am not that worried.

:D

Well, it's like Graal said: it's not really Dungeon Siege so much as the Dungeon Siege world in a new game (which is also what Obsidian had said about it). I like it a lot and I can see myself playing it a few times with Dentar.

It actually feels more like a Dragon Age 2 kind of game than it does a hack-and-slash (which is fine by me because I've never been big on hack-and-slash) and while DA2 felt mediocre, DS3 gives it a kind of enjoyment thanks to the co-op. Also quite keen on seeing how the decisions we've made so far affect the story.

One thing that bothers me is that the health orbs enemies drop don't follow you when you stand almost on top of them. You have to position yourself very, very precisely to pick them up. Often in a fight this gets you killed, because you'd roll in the orbs direction, just to roll almost right over it, but still missing it and getting dealt a killing blow.

I also think the fact that you can only have 1 companion in your party at any given time is quite balls.

Well I liked the 1st one but didn't finish the 2nd one so a re hash to the game really doesn't bother me.

Personally I am having a hard time finding anything to like about this game.

I am in the throes of playing it for a Mygaming review (got my copy late :( ), and I must admit, the choices made by "Crap"sidian are confusing and beyond moronic.

Everything from the horrible PC controls, multiplayer bungles, through to the uninspired gear and lack replay value. This is not so much an Action-RPG as it is a EXCEEDINGLY lite Action-RPG (and I use the term lite generously). I lost my faith in Obsidian a long time ago, now this just further cements my opinion.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to Obsidian. I used to like their "Bioware" game sequels. But I was really disappointed in Alpha protocol - that just gutted me...
