Karma system incoming!

Personally I prefer the 'Thumbs Up/Down' system that happens per post but I would gather that would need a more extensive forum overhaul.

I have to agree with CRZwaco here!

No use just dishing out + rep all the time, what's the use then?

Somewhere along the way, we're all going to sit at maximum rep, and the entire karma thing will be useless...

So.... I used Pr⊕phet's rep-lookup hack to discover the giver of some contentious -rep for me was in fact *drumroll* ... Pr⊕phet! LOL

LOL, me too, ok so hack's the wrong word, maybe source lookup trick thingy :D. Funny that they put the user id in the html though. Doesn't seem to be any reason for it to be there, except so you can look up what user repped you if you know where to look... It's not like it's in the link or anything

Those sort of things are achieved through plugins, but we steer clear of vB plugins because they tend to break the forum.

One day you update vB and suddenly a plugin creates a huge security hole or breaks everything, and that would not be acceptable.

So, we're working with what's officially supported by vB.

Seems like anonymity is the main problem here, and that makes sense. There should no avenue for any member to anonymously attack another.

Update: Okay, so now you should be able to see who left reputation comments in your User CP. Try and avoid a riot over this :)
 
Can you guys actually give me a mix of positive and negative rep; I'm testing out the mathematics behind the system to see if I can get it balanced. Everyone should be dishing out -1 / +1 rep now.
