How about community moderation? A +/- rep has to be agreed by 2 or more?
I have a few neg reps which I was angry at first about. However I don't respond to them knowing that it just leads to a flame war.
The purpose of a rep system is to show others if your posts can be trusted or not, they're not an outlet for emotion.
Unfortunately there exists too diverse an understanding of such a system (as with any population of people) and therefore a large loss of effectiveness.
Also Hurder it is "contributor" not "contributer" as you used a few pages back. It isn't very nice to ridicule someone due to their spelling when his was a series of typos and yours is an error in understanding.

Not a standard vB feature I'm afraid. The implementation is as it stands, and the only real changes are either making it anonymous, disabling negative reputation giving, or turning it off entirely.
Making suggestions for alterations on the system is just a futile post.
(I'm not directing this at you DarthSWNT; a lot of people have been coming with various reputation system suggestions, and I have to keep giving the same answer. If it's not standard vB, it's not going to happen).

Ok. No worries. Just a suggestion. If it is impracticable then my apologies for the suggestion.
I am sure forums worldwide have these same debates.
It is actually a debate of psychology rather than admin software. Some people will always misuse or abuse a system to their own advantage.

I didn't read all of the posts in this thread. In fact I didn't read most of them but I do have an opinion. (eh, don't we all?)
I like the current reputation system. I believe that most of the good and bad karma points that were given to people were justified. Yes, there are a couple that weren't but in the long run I do believe that your reputation state will give a relative view of what kind of posts you were posting.
It's easy to give your view about anything in such a way that it doesn't anger people. I believe that those who have red reputation indicators probably deserve them. You have to piss people off to get them. I also believe that those with a couple of green bars have added to this community. It's nice that they are rewarded in this way.
So please don't take away the reputation system. It serves a purpose. This is a gaming forum and the reputation is kind of like a game. It reminds me of Mass Effect actually.

Hiya, so it wouldn't even be possible to make a plugin just for mygaming? Or would a tailored plugin also break vb still? Don't know much about the mechanics of said software though, so it will probably be a no it will still break.
Anyways, as solitude said. The long term/long run will help in determining your status quo, so I guess I just need to keep working at being productive and slowly but surely I should go from grey to green again, but time is the factor.

It's not nice to simply assume that I do not understand something when in fact mine could've easily been a typo as well. Nevertheless I thank you for pointing it out
Also, may I suggest that if you are so hell bent on accuracy like I am then, it should be noted that I am Hurdur not Hurder as you have mentioned. Nevertheless that was a post directed to Graal, with whom I've discussed some pressing issues, and have reached a civil agreement, but thank you again for pointing out the error in my ways, hopefully we have both aided each other in being vigil when copying words that are right in front of us.

Anyway, i think most people would be happy to move on. Would you agree? If it causes trouble when you use it and the popular consensus is that you are doing it wrong the approach is to assess the argument and look for a mutually coexistent and beneficial solution. If your use of the rep system is judged as incorrect it may be a good idea to change.
This is a gaming forum, and in such relationships we should all do our best to work together and enjoy the resource.
Negative repping someone for negative repping you will just lead to an endless cycle and this very situation.
The rep system is meant to help people judge the person, tit for tat benefits no one and destroys the usefulness of such a system.
So hopefully you can move on and participate and possibly get a second chance to interact with some great guys and girls.
