I completely agree! The maps looks awesome. Everything is just awesome! You should rename the mod to:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Pure WIN
 
I'm very excited to play this. I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC and COP. It's too bad that Lost Alpha is not being made with the COP engine. SOC looks so dated now, especially the textures.
 
Very impressive trailer. Jislaaik. Had I been the kind of person to use emoticons, there'd be one right here with its jaw on the floor. Love those partially buried spheres. Goosebumps. I'd give up my papacy for this in a heartbeat.

actually i am the only south african on the team. Its quite a global effort actually. Dezodor our team leader is from hungary, griphoon our programmer is from italy, lox, game developer, is from russia. Fredy, text and stories, is from france and liquidbronze doing all the vocals casting and sound engineering is from america

Actually we are using our own modified engine, and really, COP engine didnt add too much other than better dx support, and its ability to handle large areas which LA does with ease, our one map is 8km x 8km on r2 FTW :D
 
Xray 1.0... had decent sized maps, in length. Take Cordon for example: About 2km in length right? Or for instance The reactor was divided into two seperate maps. But in Lost Alpha the reactor is one huge map.

yep and that is even small compared to our big map :)
 
Percentage-wise, how much of the X-ray Engine 1.0 remains?

I really cant say as I dont handle any programming, but a fair bit has been added / edited.

Yeah they really are dragging it out at gaminator. we have a twitter account but its not really updated, best is to follow us on our moddb page, you can find most of the latest news there.
 
Just a small update. We have had a serious bug since January which affected all npc`s but we have now squashed said bug and its work as usual.
Release should be latest Q3 I reckon but will keep you posted!

Tell us in more detail what the bug did! As a software tester these bugs and AV's interest me very much!

npc's refused to switch logic sections. Turned out we edited a scheme a while back and forgot to add a condition and so it was always "nil"

This is why pc gaming rocks so hard. The games are infinitely customisable and we have teams and people like vintar making old games new again. Great stuff!
 
Wow, that looks freaking awesome, time to fire up the old stalker again. Still got it here somewhere. Can anyone remember the name of the expansion ? They should be pretty cheap now Oo
 
Well its a case of "no news is good news" at the moment. All is continuing as planned (and another unplanned but now included surprise) so its work as usual and release still estimated at around september latest.
I'm busy adding side quests that are totally out of the ordinary so you dont get board :)

Side quests are always good! So you remember how old games used to have 'developer rooms' where the devs would sometimes use pictures of themselves as a wall texture or you get a unique item when you find the place... tell me you guys might have something like that!

Otherwise I'm glad you guys are progressing as planned. I found out a month ago I had to learn some Latin due to our company wanting to release to Serbia. So my brain is on overload right now. Testing localization has never been my strong point.
