The Golf Shot Thread

I wish I had more time to play golf.

I do enjoy trying to rescue my motley assortment of golf balls from apparently previously undiscovered lands to the far right of the fairway. In five minutes or less.

Thought I was the only one who does weird and wonderful things :p

You are not my good sir. The world is no fun without some weirdness.

That said golf club are not known for their tolerance of silliness. Which is why you always wait until hole 4 or 5, when you're nice and far from the clubhouse for some antics.

Any back to topic, I booked a new round for this weekend at Wingate for this weekend, so hopefully my driver will be fixed before Friday.

So where would you guys said you've had the most enjoyable round of golf?

Never tried it but I think Champagne Sports Resort in Central Berg has a nice course and view.

Victoria Country Club would be my most enjoyable round.

I would say Prince's Grant close to Stanger, that is a beautiful course, and can severely punish you if your game isn't what it should be. I shot a 71 gross there, so definitely one of my top 5 games :D

Good lord many you are in fact a pro...

My most memorable golf wasn't for the fact that I played al that we'll, but was all down to the course itself. Hans Merensky Country Club in Phalaborwa was my favourite time on a golf course. It's right next to the Kruger Park, so there's all sorts of wild animals lurking in the rough. Great course and a great day out.

The course where I got my near ace. As with mr Draegan, I too played off a sub 5 handicap for many many years, and I really do miss it loads :'(

Princess Grant. Rather challenging, but definitely as mr Draegan boom boom said, one of the most beautiful courses you can play!

You should totally stop bragging and give me golf lessons. You make it sound so exciting.... "whistling:

Anyone that can shoot a 71 on any golf course deserves all the bragging he wants. I just want to score anything below 90 then I'm happy.

Unfortunately Princess Grant is a bit far from me here in Pretoria. I've also only read good things about the course. Must make a plan to play it then. I had the privilege to play some great courses so far, including Glendower, Royal Joburg, Blue Valley, and Pecanwood.

Haha, I wish I was a pro :p Unfortunately I do not get the time it takes to play at that level any more. I still pay league though, tons of fun! Hans Merensky is a great course, last time I played there we saw lions on one fairway. The marshals told us to skip the hole completely and stay clear of that part of the course until they could relocate/remove the kitties :D

I have seen your swing, you should definitely get back into it, even if it is just socially!

Hehe, contrary to popular belief, it is actually an exciting game! Nothing beats the rush when you are on the home stretch, needing a birdie to force a play-off and getting it!

Only thing I'm good at where you hit balls with sticks is hockey! looool! Have no clue how to play golf. So ja then it's settled. You shall teach me your skills! Hiehie!!!!

i need to get back into it as well. have not been on a golf course or a driving range since December last year...
There are some nice deals on groupon for Jackal Creek and a couple in Limpopo for 4-balls

I have had the honor of playing at Wentworth and Sunningdale in England, two of the top courses there. I also played some others that made it into the UK's top 100.

But still, I think the course I have enjoyed the most so far, is Pearl Valley, in Paarl near Cape Town. Beautiful course, excellent club house and service. You get picked up at your car, go sign in, and then walk out to find your golf clubs cleaned, in your bag, tied to the back of a cart with water on ice and golf balls in the car... ready for the round. Excellent!

Well I had to go google all of these mentioned golf courses because I have no clue about any of them. Every single one is beautiful, but the one that stood out is Pearl Valley. There's a lot of bumps and will be lekker to ride the golf cart over those.... Lol!

I'm going to be playing in a fund raiser event tomorrow at CMR. It'll be the second round of golf I've ever played and one of the other members of our 4-ball has never swung a club in their life. Should be an interesting, and entertaining day. I'll post our results for your amusement when I get a chance afterwards.
