The Golf Shot Thread

jim and jerrys with the shacks near the one hole? :D

yip thats the one its such a nice course despite the shacks :D

Truer words haven't been spoken

haha thats funny man, its strange how your ball will always move towards an OB like a metal object to a magnet.

one example the one night im at world of golf practicing at the wedge and putt course the one hole is about 50m but right before the green there is this tiny stream, ball 1 in the stream ball 2 in the stream im like ok im gonna hit this thing really hard to avoid the stream ball 3 goes over green hits a tree rolls back into the stream ... true story

i have this issue with trees. i can hit a ball nice a straight but let the just be a tree in front of me and i will hit that
ask korn at creek 9 on i think the 7th hole theres this huge open fair way with one tree that has one tiny branch over the fairway ... i managed to hit that branch :D

On Sunday I drive behind trees so I play a safety with my chipper, manage to hit another tree and the ball bounces backwards, 3rd shot was also towards the trees, at that point I was thinking about the water hazard at the 4th. . .

Never had that happen to me you have either bad luck or skill to hit trees :D

Didn't realise that was called Creek 9. Drive past it on my way to work. Never played it yet. Looks like loads of fun.

So due to me being away for work this week, my driver has ot been fixed... so this weekend I want to go play a mashie. Maybe Sunday morning.

And? Did you get a game on a wee course?

I did indeed. Played Centurion Lake Mashie. Was quite fun. A short course is actually really fun, but I do miss playing a full course. Hopefully I can fix my driver this week.

I believe the price difference for a full game is pretty steep in JHB?

What is the average price for a round on a good course?

It depends on whether you are affiliated with a club or not. Affiliated rates are anything from R80 - R300 depending on the course. If you are not a member anywhere, you are going to pay quite a bunch. Anything between R200 - R900 for a round of golf. Thats very steep.

What you can try is going to http://lastminutegolf.co.za/ and book from there. I don't think you have to be a member anywhere, and you get great rates on some pretty nice courses throughout Joburg and Pretoria. I myself golf via PlayMoreGolfSA

Well at Cotswold Downs its R380 i think for affiliated golfers ( aka SAGA card and number ) and possibly the R500 mark for non affiliated members. I pay R280 though for a round, i will also be joining them at the end of this year and moving from my current club which charges me R290 a round and is half the course that Cotswold is.

Golf is not cheap i can tell you that much, these are KZN prices and i believe are still fairly decent.

I am a member of Drakensberg Gardens GC and have an affiliation to SAGA. I tend to use last minute golf when booking a round for the weekends. So I expect to pay at least R250 and up for a round. Just never played any of the mashie courses around Joburg. I need to get out and play sometime.
