Steam Machines and Steam OS will be open to all: Newell

Sounds cool but more games need to be made compatible with linux then it can really put pressure on Microsoft and there direct x empire.

Im more interested in the "ask me anything" Reddit session!

Does anyone else get the feeling that in the years to come gaming will basically be PS, X-box, and Steam (replacing PC gaming)
Coz thats what it looks like to me...

Well Steam boxes are really pc's its just a different OS.

I see Steam Machines primarily as streaming boxes - so in addition to your gaming rig - and therefore there shouldn't be a need to port to Linux.

So are PS4's and Xbox One's.

And so far the PS4 is the only system to use it. Strangely enough the Xbox One opted to stick with DDR3. :wtf:

I think because the PS4 is mostly a APU, Sony found a way to get GDDR5 to work as RAM and as VRAM with their own unique memory controller. I would really like to know how they managed to get it done. The PS4 manages a impressive 176 GB/s on the memory bandwidth front.
