Dark Souls 2 Thread

Hmmmm.... Upon defeating Manus, Father of The Abyss in DS, you swap his soul for magic/spell called Persuers!

Description reads; "sorcery of Manus, Father of Abyss. Grant a fleeting will to the Dark of humanity, and volley the result. The will feels envy, or perhaps love, and despite the inevitability trite and tragic ending, the will sees no alternative, and is driven madly toward its target."

Do you think the Pursuer boss, is maybe fueled by this or references back to Manus?

I am intrigued....

ok... So I took a delve into the online features last night, and this adds a whole new aspect to this already great game.

I helped out a bunch of people with bosses.
I have joined the Blue Knights which now adds to some interesting PvP. Still trying to figure out how exactly the blue/red orbs work though.

Another note, has anyone ventured down the well in Majula? (I just figured out how to get the ring to fall down there, though I haven't yet).

Fuck yeah!! I just defeated Ruin Sentinels bosses in Lost Bastille! What a rush. I'm shaking. Switched off console to just chill a bit. God I love this game

Has anyone tried burning a bonfire ascetic?

I know it bleeds through to to ng+ and ng++ but does it bleed into other games?

You you say other games to you mean other characters? They only apply to the character you use them on.

Thanks for the link to the strategy guide, I was looking for a local supplier to buy a copy! :D

Edit: NVM found it at takealot for even cheaper.

Just came across this if anyone is interested...

Dark Souls 2 Total Lore and Location Breakdown

Well, it’s been nine days (for me) since venturing back into the world of Dark Souls. Nine days of death, frustration, oppression, elation, wonderment, and obsession. And, like several others I have seen around the internet, I have noticed some striking similarities between Drangleic and our former home of undeath in the world of curses and souls: Lordran. In fact, I personally believe that it has become rather undeniable that Drangleic stands on the same area of land that Lordran did, as evidenced by many hints and clues left in the game.

Wow! All I can say is Wow!

I am truly amazed at this game and it's depth. Really a work of art. I am thoroughly enjoying this more and more each day. I finally got passed the bosses Flexile Sentry and The Ruin Sentinels. Was quite disappointed with the boss at No Man's Wharf though, wasn't too much of a challenge. But those darn Sentinels at The Lost Bastille!
Did this all last night and also played quite a bit of co-op with a mate to help with these sections. Had some great fun!

totally agree, this game is astonishing! do you know that we are barely a third of the way thru (if you around Lost Bastille). And i have been playing for 40 hours and loving every minute of it!

I quite liked the FLEXILE SENTRY boss. he looked awesome! but that mast in the center made the battle relatively easy. RUIN SENTINELS on the other hand were destroyed me many many times. I helped a number if dudes to try and learn the patterns and then i eventually managed to defeat them. but cost me a number of human effigies :(

Have you been to the Belfry Luna yet? i won't spoil it, other than to say you need to buy a spare controller before you tackle that area ;)

wow this game is really quite a lot bigger than Dark Souls really like the variety in the locations.Really quite stunning looking game due to the artwork.

I'll agree with being bigger, I think the world is physically bigger, but so far I feel that Dark Souls level design/complexity was more dense in each individual area. Another thing I think FromSoft and the Souls franchise have always been great at is the scenery in their games, the vistas are awesome to look at and to look back on locations where you came from and where you'll end up going. In pure level design, it is quite simply some of the best I have come to see and play within.

I much prefer the more widely spread out feel of Dark Souls 2. They were able to do this thanks to the Bonfire-teleporting. I must admit thati love the way DS1 cleverly wove shortcuts into the game, but that forced the designers to build everything in a very tight space. I can't imagine going back to DS1 now and having to run from one point to another. I love being able to quickly teleport elsewhere if i hit a brick wall in a particular area.

oh, and after watching that Guidebook Video, i buckled and ordered the strategy guide :)

Yeah, ENB can do that to you. I have been subscribed to his channel for a long time along with Twitter. He's really a cut above the rest of the dredge on YouTube (ie. the likes of PewdiePie).
