Dark Souls 2 Thread

it does take a little while, but once you get the feel for the timing, you learn to "charge" it up a split second before enemy is in range. I often hit RB (to start firing) and only THEN hit the RS to lock on.

I cancelled the order for the guidebook, as it was only due to arrive at the end of the month. But now I am very tempted once again :( if only it was available in a store where i could get it ASAP instead of waiting god-knows-how-long

I decided to just keep mine on back order. I won't be using it until New Game + anyway.

hmm..yeah, that's a good point i guess. but do you know whether its NG+ data is solidly populated ?

I have no idea, I mostly want it for the things I may have missed and nuances I didn't notice on my first playthrough.

From watching NG+ play through of VaatiVidya and ENB, looks as though it is. If you referring to terms of players (ie summon signs). That's the great thing about DS, more than enough reasons to allow multiple play throughs.

I basically want the guide purely for the items/descriptions and lore.

I'll try and grab a pic later this week. I see you are running fat rolls, I cannot do without fast rolls myself. I also notice you didn't spend any points on adaptability, I think I have about 16 points in that stat for the slightly faster shield up and estus chugging.

I also noticed my soul counter is about 500k more, but I'm a slightly lower level than you, I guess I've been spending a lot of souls on other things. :D

Fat rolls? If it means what I think it means then I don't think so. I roll around pretty fast from what I can tell, maybe it can be faster but the rolling speed looks the same to me with or without my armour. I didn't know what adaptability did when I started playing so I just left. Might put some points into it at some stage once I'm happy with my other stats before I start NG+.

Up until 70% equip load you can fast roll, anything more and you fat roll. The difference is pretty significant and it's easy to test out, my controller vibrates when I do fat rolls.

Oh yeah, then we are on the same page. I definitely do fast rolls, you'll see in my pic my weight load is at about 68% so I just make it. If I equip my bow as well it goes over 70% so I just equip it when I need it.

Also, what exactly is soul counter? I've seen people talk about it but I have no idea what it does/is. I'm guessing it's the amount of souls you have acquired so far in total?

I haven't upgraded a lot of equipment yet, only my armour and swords so most of my souls go to levelling. I also make it a point to not lose any souls, not that it always works out that way. :p Basically when I have a lot of souls I'll go and level up or find something to buy before risking losing a lot at once. I have lost quite a lot though...

It's exactly that but it also factors into a thing called soul memory that averages your total collected souls with your current soul level and match makes you with people of similar soul memories. This is apparently only applicable in NG and doesn't apply post NG+.

It's supposed to help avoid scenarios from DS1 where people wouldn't level their characters but would use the souls to max out weapons and armour then grief lower level players.

regarding FAT vs FAST rolls, 70% and higher are FAT and you can feel the controller thud and you take longer to get up. But apparently there is also a 30% and a 50% tier. so at less than 30% load you are able to roll FURTHER away (possibly in addition to being faster). I read this on Fextralife wiki, but even they were not entirely sure of the metrics.

oh , and in typical FOMO fashion, now that i made up my mind that i WANT the guide....Kalahari is sold out :( and so is takealot. and loot is a lot more expensive. FEK FEK FEK!

You want to buy a strategy guide for a game that's purpose is to be challenging? :wtf:

i plan to use it for NG+ to hoover up stuff which i missed the first time around :-) plus, its exquisitely laid out with cool artwork. and it has awesome LORE sections that really flesh out the game nicely.

Something I saw/heard last night on GermanSpy channel; the voice of Mild Mannered Pate is the same guy that played as Darth Maul in the Star Wars movies. Apparently he's a fan and contacted FromSoft in hopes to do some voice overs.

Also, were you are that FromSoftware actually brought in people to authenticate and give opinions on historical weaponry to better improve their game.

Just a little trivia, I found it interesting....

Yeah I was gonna wait for the patch to nerf Freya's laser attack, but luckily a very capable phantom just helped me to defeat her. :p Up next is the Black Gulch, again. :(
