If you are opting out of the optional content then you are maybe 5 - 10 or so hours away. It depends on your pace and how much you struggle with the next areas and their bosses.
 
Right, castle looks to be done, quite short actually. Now I've gone way underground to some tree roots in water place (can't recall the name). But what a lovely atmosphere this place has, beautiful level design. About to take on the boss there I think, I haven't gone through the fog yet.

Hooray for happiness. \o/
 
Argh.... This Undead Crypt and boss at the end is causing me to rage, really one of the few times in DS2.

That was actually one of the easier bosses for me. I did summon that NPC that sells human effegies in that area to help me, but I got him the second time (first time was by myself and I almost had him).

Which boss is this? Velstadt? Took me about 3 tries before I learned his moves and even then it was not an easy victory.

I finished it off before I went to NG+. Good luck on the covenant boss, apparently melee builds will have a hard time with it.
 
Have you guy enfused any of your weapons?

I did it to one and the damage output sucked so I went back and restored it.

I do, but that's because I switched to a faith build so I infuse everything with lightning.

Using the Dragon Chime +5 infused with lightning I get over 1000 damage per great lightning spear. :D
 
Where the Hells can I get titanite chunks?

Oh, and I'm busy working on King Vendrick (which seems impossible) and the Watcher and Defender boss(es).

Yeah, Vendrick is a real tough bastard. I chose to ignore him. Apparently you need giant souls (4 of them, I think) to be able to beat him, otherwise you won't do nearly enough damage to him.
 
Just reading you guys talk about this got me amped, so I went ahead and bought it on steam... dam peer pressure.

Best it be good.

BEST. DECISION. EVER!!!

this game is beyond anything you can imagine. i am about 80 hours in and still have about another 180 hours left in the tank :)

welcome!

oh, and FYI, start as a sorcerer. best class for beginners thanks to ranges abilities. Melee is critical, but you can get into it later on. also, classes are only really relevant early on, as you can totally customize later.

Agreed, I still kinda feel that a Soul Vessel is kinda a cheat so I don't use them. I've made a few mistakes with my build but I've learnt to adapt.

I've just clocked over 90hours. Trying to figure out how to take out Vendrick. Almost near impossible. I know you need the four giant souls, but I dunno how to get them. I've opened the Kings door in the Forest of Giants and all I see is a tree with sparkles twinkling above, alas nothing happens.


So now I'm kinda stuck, just wondering around farming and/or exploring.
