Official Wasteland 2 thread

If you don't save highpool they destroy the radio tower. the tower will then highlight blue and you can collect the dish from it also general vargas will then tell you that you can talk to the rail nomads to use their radio tower once you get there the tower is not in working order so you need the dish that you get from highpool and another piece.

Long story short just could not get the dish piece and according to all the forums I have looked up that is the only place you get a dish.

During the beta I saved Highpool and got the Ag Center dish with no problems.

With my current playthrough I decided to save Ag Center, so I really hope I'm able to get the Highpool dish :/

Just did it with custom rangers and I could get it this time and the dialog was there. (prev did it with preset characters)

Lycan, eugene where are you two? I think we lost them in the game people!

I have a group of custom guys as well. Guess I'll see when I get there.
I so wish I had more time to put into this game, maybe on Wednesday I can make some progress

If you have not yet turn up the combat speed a bit so it goes a bit faster. That helps a lot.

Have any of you actually read the novellas? I started reading ghost book two last night and I had to force myself to stop reading it. It's really well written and fills in the story of wasteland 1 up to wasteland 2.

So... quick rant.

I'm pretty disappointed with this game. So much potential and yet... it feels so B-grade. It's "indie" in all the wrong ways. It's buggy, some quests and gameplay mechanics are terribly thought-out (read: accessing the Prison, siding with Diamondback Militia/MAD Monks, some NPC followers (not companions) with 50-odd health who charge off into 550HP spider bots who wipe the floor with them), the engine runs poorly when there's a lot of on-screen activity like explosions and the story is also absurdly linear.

Also, I struggle to see the legitimate value in a large number of skills and attributes--they seem almost entirely aesthetic.

It raises one very sore point for me: what the fuck can we expect inXile to do with Torment: Tides of Numenera

I've also been encountering a load of annoying bugs causing me to reload saved games and waste time. Not cool inXile!

So far I've been enjoying the game for all its old-school CRPG qualities. I'm not very far into the storyline yet so I hope it picks up a bit. However, all the reports of annoying bugs are putting me off... Feels like I should wait for a patch before continuing.

I would also maybe hold of a bit.
Gotten a bit further than before and yeah the bugs are everywhere I keep hitting F9 everywhere to make sure I don't lose to much time if I have to reload.

I keep getting this vibe that the game is still in alpha/beta build.

I didn't want to be the one to be negative in an otherwise positive thread, but I completely agree. When I take time off for gaming at night I find myself choosing ArcheAge over this, which is very sad.

Note that I never played the original Wasteland, but Wasteland 2 feels to me like it's trying so hard to be Fallout 2, but misses most of what made Fallout 1 and 2 fun. I don't feel invested in my characters, I don't feel invested in the story and I don't feel invested in anything I do. Maybe I expected a bit too much from it and that's why I feel like this, but overall I'm very blegh about this game. I'm very happy I got it for free from someone on RPGCodex. I really hoped it would be great.

I also agree on the skill bloat. Do we really need 3 skills for unlocking stuff?

This bodes very ill for Torment: Tides of Numenera. Wasteland 2 is a bit of a bust, Pillars of Eternity is a bust because of godawful combat - so please please please be good Torment. :(

Wait wait, say what?? I am a kickstarter backer and this does not sound good. Game has not yet been released, so where are the combat complaints arising? Link plz
:-(

As far as I know all the backers got beta keys for Steam recently. Unless it was just everyone over a certain tier. People all over have been complaining that the combat is very lame. From what I've gathered it's pretty much the same as all the previous Infinity Engine games (Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale) and we all know combat wasn't the strong suite in those games.

I am loving the game and just finished reading ghost book two a few minutes ago. On that note I can really highly recommend all three of the novellas. But that being said I have also encountered a few bugs this weekend. Mostly harmless camera related stuff so nothing that has actually broken my quests or stopped my progress. Worst case I had to reload the save and then everything worked fine the second time round.

NPCs have a charge to go rogue, that is there very nature and if you played Wasteland 1 you should be accustomed to this. It still sucks when it happens but it adds an awesome element of unpredictability. If you increase your leadership skill the chance that they go rogue will be less, and some characters will also go rogue more than others. If you want 100% obedience, stick with the four rangers.

I fail to see how the story is linear? It's an open world game like Wasteland 1. I've gone off on massive tangents and I have a handful of different quests that I'm working on at the moment. Heck I wiped out half of the rail nomads and then decided to turn back and go and gain more exp on another area instead before coming back to finish them off.

Which skills and attributes are you referring to? I've found cool uses for pretty much every skill in the book, although I do admit that I slightly prefer how some of the skills worked in wasteland 1.

Would you suggest I wait for some bug fixes before I really get into it?

As above, I've played about 15 hours so far and I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs. The bugs that I've encountered have been stupid things. In one the camera got stuck, and I couldn't scroll the camera at all, but the shadows kept on moving as if the camera was moving. This finally resolved itself after I fired a shot. In another instance I tried to sell the junk my guys were carrying to the doctor in the guardian citadel and a message pops up saying that he only buys medical equipment. But said message popped up for every single item of junk that I tried to sell. So I had to click the OK button about 50 times before the game could resume.

I have already learned a great deal in this playthrough and I will probably restart it at some point anyway regardless of whether I encounter a game-breaking bug or not. That is just the nature of a Wasteland game. I recently finished Wasteland 1 and I restarted about 4 times, and only one of the restarts was because I had stuffed up something in the game and I could not finish the game without it.

I hope that you guys are playing the game for what it is and accepting some of the unforeseen consequences as they happen. You could really ruin the game for yourself if you load your previous save game every time to change the outcome to something more desirable. Heck, I've lost a ton of safes that I just couldn't open after a critical failure. I also accidentally killed the boy in the nomads camp causing a massive snowball effect which royally messed up my path of being the "good-guy rangers" but I stuck it out and I'm busy trying to see if I can salvage the situation.
