And if your a sport junky like me that loves everything sport you might come to like this thread.

Here you can talk all things sport news, current games, fallout's of current sporting events the works, even pop updates for those of us that are at work.

If this won't work then just Delete the thread and my bad then :p

i wondered when frans would call it quits for the boks; he is a good player but he seemed more interested in the $$

anyways

well with no championship rugby this w'end, I'll watch some currie cup. Lions to take it tonight

It's his career, it will always be about the money - he will probably make tons more playing overseas instead of for the Boks. Same problem in soccer, players get paid far more by the clubs than country.

i don't judge him. lifespan of a pro (in pretty much any sport) is short, so make all the cash you can.

but there are a few players, who (seemingly) play for passion and pride first - but as they say for each his own.

Well for some it still is about pride about wearing that famed Green and Gold. one of them is Schalla and Willie too. But if your just in it for the money and not even a little sense of pride then go play overseas . the thing is they are giving the wrong impression to our young-ens that want to reach that goal one day.

My son already ask questions about how much does rugby pay compared to working and things like that and he's only 9

And to shoot yourself in the foot for national selection is a bit dumb if u ask me and kinda tarnishes your name and puts you in a bracket of "those" players.

Look at Rory Kockett he's gonna be a french national next year and it seems he might even play for them in the world cup. Good for him cos he's decided to stay there and not go to the 3 different clubs that has offered him big money cos he can see a future for himself in france.

Ouch the pumas got the hurt put on them last night by the lions but i heard there were some controversial calls again by the ref.

I say they should bring a sub system and fine system in for referees. If a ref blows like his ass in the first half sub him with a touch judge the second half of the game, if a ref is then found guilty of influencing a games outcome by his crap calls within a review after the match he should gt fined a percentage of his match fee or be taken out of the system for a 2 week cycle.

What are your guys thought about the state of how referee's can screw up a good game these days

And Cricket Wow Kane Williamson put the hurt on the cobra's i was so hoping an SA franchise would do good in this years T20 Champs :(

I dunno much about Rugby, just the stuff I read when I have a chance. I do however know some stuff about the cricket world.

After reading about Ajmal being banned for an illegal bowling action it occurred to me that the series against Pakistan would have gone a lot better had he not played. Everyone is calling him the best ODI bowler currently but most of his wickets, at least during the last season or so, should not be counted because of his illegal action. If you take wickets but they are only because you were kind of cheating the system to make the ball spin more then why are you even ranked?

Same goes for the others that have been caught recently. Everyone singing their praises and how good they are and then the truth comes out that it is not actually skill but circumventing regulations to cheat.

Sorry only saw this Topic today, But I think its a Great Idea! Love me some Sports!

On the Frans Steyn issue, I was bitterly disappointed by his withdrawal, and equally surprised... I have always rated him very highly as a player, and feel he has been pushed around in SA Rugby regarding his position, and I think thats been a major setback for him. He should have been our number 15 from the 2007 worldcup, and if that was the case can you imagine how incredible he would be today? Taking nothing away from Willie Le Roux obviously, he is a fantastic player in his own right. This whole thing about his "Image"... Surely pulling out of the Springboks and leaving them so suddenly has done more damage to his "image" than what ever else was happening behind the scenes?

The Champions league Cricket I think is a great tournament, and really cool to see hos the domestic leagues stack up against each other across countries. I was VERY surprised to see the Mumbai Indians not make it through the "play offs" so to speak. Its been a really poor performance from the SA teams so far though... One could argue that the Cobras were unlucky to have 12 taken off the last 2 balls, but in my opinion that just terrible terrible death bowling... There is no excuse for a bowler to allow a batsman to take 12 off 2 for the win...

Grand Prix? The title race between Hamilton and Rosberg has taken some interesting turns, seems to be changing hands quite quickly, mainly because one of them doesn't finish the race... I have been a big fan of Hamilton since he came onto the scene, but even I can agree he has become increasingly arrogant, and full of himself... Still though I would like to see him take another title

I see that Rory Kockott has been called up to the French national team. He's been playing in France since 2011 and apparently have gone from strength to strength. I'm glad for him, and I rate him much higher than Ruan Pienaar or Hougaardt as a scrumhalf.

It's sad that SA players go oversees and start to blossom as players. Why could they not have been cultivated in SA and made into the Springboks they deserve?

In all honesty, Kockott is a decent player... But when he was going for a place in the Boks, he was up against the best scrumhalf, pretty much to ever play the game, in Fourie Du Preez. There was no chance he was going to get game time with Du Preez playing...

I still dont think Kockott is a good pick for the Boks though... As much as I think Pienaar is a useless piece of you know what, I think we have better youngsters that would be better suited to the team. Kockott is not a young gun any more, and at 28 he still has a few years left in him, but I would prefer to see us prepping the young guys for the future rather than pulling in a guy who is settled in another country...

Well i can see a future for Reynach if he gets the chance i think he will outshine pienaar and hougie. I also think if hougie just came back to earth again and puncture his head a bit he can be what he was before he bought that R8 :p.

And in other news

Damn hate it that lewis is back on top again rly thought Seb would win this weekend but thanx you safety car for bursting that bubble

And damn CSK really hurt the Dolphins last night i think they will win this T20 too most of their players are inform atm

An then there is the all blacks making the news again on all he wrong fronts :p hahahahahaha

Also this http://www.supersport.com/rugby/springboks/news/140922/Bok_scrum_is_on_the_up

What do you think of our current scrum and is it rising?

I would say get rid of jannie and bizmark and give them the rest of the season off they are overplayed and need the rest maybe a long layoff will do them good and get their form back because they are currently useless.

Adriaan is up to par atm and i like his playstyle. Beast seems to be coming back into his own i would give coenie a run again and even marcel isn't doing too bad. but i would love to see the front 3 of the lions actually packing down against the bok scrum to see what happens there

Wow what a close game KKR had last night damn i was standing those last 6 balls :D think it will be 2 ipl teams in the semis the way CSK and KKR are playing would love it actually then CSK can take revenge :p

It is a little unfair really to put other domestic teams up against the IPL teams... Those IPL teams are just star studded lineups from the best in the world...

Not completely if you take into account that some of the ipl players actually play for their local franchises that made it into the T20. Only the ones that are not in a domestic team that made it play for their ipl teams but the ones that belong to a domestic team that did actually play for those and kkr only just won last night i thought the scorchers were gonna win

Wow Best 20 minutes of rugby from the boks this year and it was awesome i even lost my voice. Hougie didn't do too bad but i think our solution to the Fourie problem is Cobus Reinach. And Willie needs to come back down to earth making too many mistakes lately. Schalla showed he's still as hard as nails nad our scrums looked better but Pat lambie is still as useless a kicker as ever 3 kick almost in front and he missed them all :(

Far to many mistakes from the Boks, take the win but know that if they play like this against the ABs, they'll get a klap!

Semi off-topic post from me here.

F*ck DStv! I don't watch much TV, but I like watching some sport over the weekends. So what I used to do is, I would turn my DStv on over the weekend, watch the sport, then turn it off again on Sunday evening. So I would only pay for those three days, something like R30 per day, instead of the R700pm.

Now DStv decided, in all their f*cking wisdom, to not allow that anymore. You can now upgrade any time of the month, but you can only downgrade or suspend your service at the end of the month.

So this means I'll have to start streaming my sport over the internet again. DStv really are just money grabbing douchebags.

/end rant
