I couldnt agree more... West Indies are so bad at the moment... But we also cant discount the fact that they can beat any team on a good day... look at what they did to Sri Lanka,,,

i guess the only small consolation is that at least we did not get embarrassed like England and Pakistan :D but jokes aside, our top order need to bloody pull up their socks for the next game!

It's pretty sad that the FIA/F1 still can't get PR right, and Boullier is the last person I would believe in a press conference. The rumour mill is being a little silly about it, though.. It's a hell of a leap to get to an electric shock, especially one that would knock a driver unconscious!

The fact that he (apparently) had to be sedated because he was restless is worrying, though, as that's a sign of your body going into shock, which I think would be indicative of a pretty nasty bump! This is absolute conjecture, of course, but I think it's supported by the 2nd night in hospital.

but Pakistan lost by 150 runs! :D and NZ made England score in like 12 overs :) plus Windies lost to Ireland. so i think our loss to India was bad, but at least it was in group stages and not in a knockout phase

Yep, I think what worries me more is what Vettel had to say since he saw the accident happen. And even he thought something is very wrong. I suspect that the rumour about him blacking out or mechanical failure is the closest that we can get to the truth, I do know he might have jarred his back which he had injured in 2013 I think. So he might have done damage when he crashed and actually hurt his back again, which is why he didnt get out of the car unassisted.

Now that you mention the back damage, that's very plausible.. Driving over rough non-running off area ground like he did with a stiff suspension is what I suspected triggered the g-alarm in the first place. Doing that with a bad back would be really painful!

But, then, there's the rumour that a photographer saw a doctor tap him on the helmet, and that he didn't respond.

Ugh, too many rumours, it's just a waste of time speculating. Hope he's doing well, it'd be a real pity not seeing him at the first race!

Yep it is very frustrating to not know what is going on. I also don't trust the random news reports, I am just waiting to see if the team or his manager acutally says something worth believing.

McLaren said results of hospital scans showed the driver was concussed but otherwise uninjured.
Team boss Eric Boullier said the Spaniard would stay in hospital overnight "as a precaution".

Tom that story surfaces every year, its the official bs F1 story that has to be shown once a year. I doubt that we will see a F1 in this country thanks to the baboons running the country.

Yea Tom, its a story but one we wish was true, if you do a bit of research you will find it gets reposted once a year this time of year?

Rory Byrne, a formidable car designer whose name carries as much weight as Adrian Newey within the paddock, has been working with Ferrari for some time. The legendary South African car designer has been semi-retired for almost a decade, but can’t seem to stay away from F1. Byrne worked with Benetton during the mid-90s, designing the title winning cars from 1994 & 1995, before moving to Ferrari with Michael Schumacher in 1996. He was part of the ‘dream team’ of Michael, Jean Todt, Ross Brawn & himself, and dominated the sport with Ferrari until 2004, only ever being beaten by Adrian Newey designs.

He retired at the end of 2006, but popped back up again in 2008, as well as being asked by Ferrari to step in during 2012, which he did. The man who replaced Byrne was Aldo Costa, who left Ferrari in 2011 to join Mercedes, designing the dominant W05 of 2014. Pat Fry replaced Costa, to no success, and Simone Resta has now taken over design of the 2015 SF15-T, overseen by James Allison.

However, Resta is being ably backed up by Byrne, with Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene revealing during the Barcelona test at the weekend that Rory is back in Maranello. Maurizio told ESPN:

“I spoke with Rory, I’ve known him for a long time. I asked him ‘are you keen to work together with us, with your success, in the future to be a bit more involved?’ Without taking anything away from Simone Resta, who is our chief designer. It’s unbelievable, a guy like this of his age, and he’s still enthusiastic like a baby. I was really surprised. One night near to Christmas I went to a restaurant and I found Rory, who was eating very, very quickly, and I said ‘Rory, calm down, where do you have to run!?’ He had to run immediately back to the factory for a meeting with Resta.”

Resta is a fresh face when it comes to overall car design, and Arrivabene explained that Byrne’s experience can only prove beneficial in the long run. So far, the SF15-T appears to be a well designed car, with both drivers reporting satisfaction with the way it handles. As for its speed, the car has usually mixed near the top of the timesheets in all the test sessions so far.

“Rory is working with Simone, he’s giving to Simone as a mentor because of his experience and he’s working on some detail of the car. Most people might think Rory is part of history, I don’t think so. We are talking about the chief designer guru all the time but Rory isn’t one of the guys who didn’t win, he’s one of the guys who won a lot.

“Having a father or mentor for Simone is not a bad thing especially not when his enthusiasm is going up to the sky. I was talking to James [Allison] about it and he said ‘why not?’. Rory has my utmost respect, especially for that night I saw him eating with the light inside his eyes.”

There's not much discussion, unfortunately. The thread is here. It looks like some guys just took the available photo's and tried to superimpose on to the track.

I'm sure if it does happen, all the F1 fans will flock to CPT, and it'll be successful, but that's not enough to convince Bernie.

Also found an interview with my current favourite driver that aired on Australian tv in September.

I hear what you guys are saying... I was quite shocked to realise that Africa is the only continent without a F1 Venue though...
