it's just a pity we don't have that killer instinct in us where we remove tailenders quickly. if it was Aus WI would have been all out for 80

Agreed, the tail almost always gets runs against us. Those missed chances from Abbotts bowling didn't help with regards to that.

So the only record missing from ABs report card is the fastest 200. If he had one or two more overs to bat that may have well happened today.

Yes AB was on fire today, perhaps he will get it against one of the minnow countries.

Roll-over grid penalties dropped, Virtual safety car introduced

An unpopular and controversial rule from the 2014 season has been dropped, while 2015 will also see the introduction of the Virtual Safety Car. While the rule changes for 2015 are not as dramatic as some introduced in previous seasons, here are some of the important changes for this season you need to know.

One of the biggest changes will see the number of available power units for each driver drop from five in 2014, to four in 2015. This means that each engine is expected to last five races each. However, unlike in 2014, a power unit change no longer means an automatic penalty, but rather a cumulative penalty, as explained by the regulations:

“For the purposes of this, the power unit will be deemed to comprise six separate elements, the engine (ICE), the motor generator unit-kinetic (MGU-K), the motor generator unit-heat (MGU-H), the energy store (ES), turbocharger (TC) and control electronics (CE). Each driver will therefore be permitted to use five of each of the above six components during a Championship season and any combination of them may be fitted to a car at any one time.
Should a driver use more than five of any one of the elements a grid place penalty will be imposed upon him at the first Event during which each additional element is used. Penalties will be applied according to the following table and will be cumulative :
Replacement of a complete power unit = The driver concerned must start the race from the pit lane.
The first time a 6th of any of the elements is used = Ten grid place penalty.
The first time a 6th of any of the remaining elements is used = Five grid place penalty.
The first time a 7th of any of the elements is used = Ten grid place penalty.
The first time a 7th of any of the remaining elements is used, and so on = Five grid place penalty.”

Where a driver is unable to take a full grid penalty, due to their qualifying position, the penalty will not roll over into the next Grand Prix. If a driver isn’t able to drop the required number of positions the penalty outlines, the remaining penalty will be applied via a time penalty:

1-5 grid places: five-second time penalty.
6-10 grid places: drive-through penalty.
11-20 grid places: ten-second stop-and-go penalty.
More than 20 grid places: a time penalty.

The Virtual Safety Car, which was trialled throughout the final races of 2014 following Jules Bianchi’s serious accident at Suzuka, has also been formally introduced. This can be used to neutralise a race without having to introduce the safety car itself.

The technical regulations also declare the dropping of double points for the final round of 2015, as well as safety car standing re-starts, a bone of contention when proposed last year. Teams also cannot make changes to their gearbox ratios, something that was permitted once in 2014. Another contentious issue has been addressed: that of the unlapping of cars during a safety car period. While lapped cars may still unlap themselves when permitted under the safety car, there will no longer be a delay while waiting for these cars to catch back up to the pack. The safety car will return to the pits on the lap after all cars have unlapped themselves, regardless of where the unlapped cars are on the circuit.

Anyone watch some of the NZ/Aus game? Looked like it game down to the wire with NZ winning by 1 wicket.

Please tell me you watched the highlights of the last over... Holy shit... What an awesome match! I thought NZ would walk it after they bowled and Mc Cullum went ballistic... Awesome advert for crickets bowlers, which we dont see very often these days...

Game against Ireland was a walk in the park... It annoys me that guys like Faf, AB, Riley, Baerhardien etc bowl overs... This isnt a friendly high school match... We should have kept the pressure on and ended the game as quickly as possible...

So it seems that even tho Alonso is fine, he is not participating in the Australian GP

Alonso to miss season opener in Australia
NEWS STORY
03/03/2015
Fernando Alonso's doctors have advised him to sit out the season opening Australian Grand Prix next week.
Having performed an exhaustive series of tests and scans - some of them as recently as yesterday evening - Alonso's doctors have informed him that they find him asymptomatic of any medical issue; that they see no evidence whatsoever of any injury; and that they therefore describe him as entirely healthy from neurological and cardiac perspectives alike.
However, his doctors have recommended to him that, following the concussion he sustained in the testing accident at the Barcelona, for the time being he should seek to limit as far as is possible any environmental risk factors that could potentially result in his sustaining another concussion so soon after his previous one, so as to minimise the chances of second impact syndrome, as is normal medical procedure when treating athletes after concussions.
In order to limit those environmental risk factors, specifically, his doctors have advised that he should not compete in the imminent Australian Grand Prix meeting, which will take place on March 15th.
Alonso has understood and accepted that advice, and the two McLaren-Honda cars will therefore be driven in Australia by Fernando's team-mate Jenson Button and the team's test and reserve driver Kevin Magnussen.
Alonso's doctors acknowledge that he feels fit and well, and that he regards himself as ready to race, and, that being the case, they are comfortable with the fact that he has already recommenced physical training, with a view to preparing for a return to the cockpit of his McLaren-Honda car for the Malaysian Grand Prix meeting on March 27th, 28th and 29th. Indeed, his doctors are supportive of that ambition, satisfied as they are that he sustained no damage whatsoever during his testing accident on February 22nd.
According to the team, all at McLaren-Honda fully support Fernando's decision in respect of his doctors' advice.

I have to say, I have been feeling iffy about the FIA for the last year or two. I have always respected Gary Hartstein and I feel that Jean Todt is overstepping boundaries and pushing agenda's that has to have a reasoning behind it.

I was appreciative about Gary's blogs on head and back injuries during the Shumacher and Bianchi accidents. He made sense in way all the speculators did not. (even the newsies just seemed to spin and report about stuff that they had no real facts on and didnt bother to get the facts.)

Their treatment of Gary is silly and seems very childish to me.
