walterl who do you think will win between the Cheetahs and the Sharks this weekend? I just can't decide.

It's a difficult one to call, I guess it will be very even, therefore I'm going for the home side with a small margin

Thanks. I still can't make up my mind. They've both been pretty bad but it does feel like the Sharks have improved a bit.

I have to say this weekend's F1 was drama filled to the max - all three free practice sessions were compromised with diesel spillages, huge accident from Carlos Sainz and various other issues.
At least Sainz is well (it was a huge shunt and he was kept in the hospital overnight.)
With Rosberg retiring due to a sticking throttle - his chances for winning the championship is over - now its a battle with Vettel for the no 2 spot. Kimi was showing some amazing moves until he had a brain fart and braked to late causing a collision with Bottas - taking Bottas out of the race and giving Kimi a 30sec penalty dropping him from 4th to 8th.
Alonso's 35 grid penalties would have maybe let him start the race tomorrow - these grid penalties are getting silly. He also scored a 5sec penalty for exceeding track limits.
Exactly what Grosjean did I am still not sure, he lost downforce behind Button, the car's rear stepped out and he ended up in the Tecpro barriers. Lots of duct tape was used to fix them. He is at least ok. But I don't think Lotus can afford to fix his car considering they couldnt even have a hospitality room.
I think the person I am most proud of was Perez - he really did deserve that third place.
Kvyat did well, not amazing but he did great for his home race in a sub par car. Ricciardo's breakdown made me smile - pity still it wasnt Hamilton.

Then there is the redbull drama = they are still struggling to find an engine supplier. Torro Rosso has signed with Ferrari - but Ferrari and Merc is not planning on signing with Redbull - I seriously think they over did the threats and now the other teams just want them gone.

And then the biggest news to date - Pirelli has signed a contract till 2019 . . . .

Both matches should be good. Free State rested some of their key players when the Lions played them in Bloem so it should be a closer match tomorrow. But the Loftus match should be very close, looking forward to watching both matches!

Looking forward to some epic encounters this weekend on the rugby front. I think the Lions will have an easy game against the Cheetahs, but the Bulls vs WP game will be epic. Gonna be a close encounter.

Sorry, ladyfriend, only saw your post now, so my obligatory comment on your opinion pieces is late! :D It was a really dramatic weekend. Unfortunatley, most of the interesting things happened before the race, or off track. The race itself was pretty boring to me, other than the BOT-RAI battle. Luckily for LOTUS, their money trouble should soon evaporate; and I think the money they budgeted for Maldonado's crash will be used to fix Grojean's car. Miffed as ever about RIC's DNF when he was looking strong, it's a habit they really have to break.. I'd also have preferred it to have been Hamilton.

Normally, I don't get to watch the free practices, being a working man and all. However, I was on leave on Friday, waiting for the municipality to show up (don't hold your breath, they never did), so I had the television on as I was going about my homework. I looked up at the television a second before the camera cut to Sainz's wreck, so I saw the whole thing live, and I'll tell you, it was the most tense 15 minutes of F1 I've experienced in a very, very long time. The marshalls were very careful to not move any barriers that were on top of the car without the doctor's permission, but the doctor's were on scene in less than two minutes, and quickly established that Sainz was awake and chatty, so they had no reason to rush extraction and risk injuring his spine or neck. However, we viewers didn't know this, and were left in the dark until Sainz was checked out at the medical centre, and his manager gave a thumbs up to the media. Seeing the wreck afterwards reminds me how much F1 has improved in safety in the past 20 years. The wheel tethers doing their job well, the protective cell around the cockpit keeping the barriers out of the way while travelling at speed. But the car managed to make a massive dent in the Armco barrier, and a thorough investigation into this accident should be undertaken to find exactly what caused the car to hit the barrier that hard. I've got a feeling it's a combination of the "tyre" barriers not being loaded with enough water (it should not have picked up that much) and the corner being just plain dangerous. That kind of braking with DRS open on a slow curve is a recipe for disaster, IMO.

I hope that lotus manages to keep going, I will miss them if they cant return.
I am very glad that I didnt watch the free practice where sainz crashed. I become a nervous wreck when I see one of those accidents - even with grosjean's accident I had a mini freak out. I am happy that Merc won their championship, maar seriously ek mis die dae wanneer dit gebeur het op die laaste race.

So Who is rooting for who in the 2 semi's this weekend i'm going Lions and Bulls i would love to go see a final like that again for a change and last time WP got hammered at Fortress Loftus, i don't think t will be that easy again this time but i think we can edge a win.

For the cheetahs i feel sorry the Lions are going to rip them to shreds :p

And then it's all GO BOKKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol I wanted to post it but I didn't know where else.:D

I will be super surprised if WP should win this weekend. Maybe we'd be doing better if Juan gave up his side job :p

lol you can post stuff like that in Thread Killer. Without context I have no idea what you are trying to say with that picture. :)

*edit*

Actually I just saw the bit at the bottom about Juan de Jongh! Haha it does look like him!

Lol right!! And in hindsight, I should probably have written that above the pic. But thanks for the advice! Still getting used to this forum thing (noob mistake)

Anyways, on the topic of WP, why is it that they perform so well in Currie Cup, but when it comes to Superrugby, Stormers always seem to choke come the playoffs?? It's bothered me for years now. They are a quality side but just cant seem to perform on the day.
