BF vs COD {Need opinions}

Right,

[First thing's first. I don't want a flame war up in this bitch cause it seems this is like LoL vs DotA type topic.]

Having not played any FPS since CSS started getting big I have been looking at the current scene.
Seems CoD and BF are the big boys. I would like to get one but I have no clue what the differences between them are in the least.
I watched some BF3 streams and it looks pretty intense.

Could you fine people of the interwebs please point out what the main diff's are and summarize your preference and reason.
I think the most recent CoD is Ghosts and BF is 4 so let's keep it on those.

Much love. GPyro

cod ghosts = engine with its origins from 1999 :p, animations from MW2 :p and overinflated requirements (which has been proven), gameplay = hollywood style movie, 12 year olds love it,

Bf3 = Technically the better game on all fronts, sells alot less than cod though :(

There are also the so called "Battlefield Moments" when something happens and you go "I can't actually believe that just happened".

For instance, the other day, I shot down a jet with the main gun of my tank. I can't believe I managed that. Hitting a chopper is hard enough, but I've never hit a jet before. Granted the guy was diving straight for me, but it was awesome! He came in for a strafing run, and I ended up with jet wreckage flying past me.

Have a Google for "Only in Battlefield" to see some examples

Lol did that too the other night. A jet was flying ever sooooo sloooooowly and I shot him with a tank haha. The guy just lol'd. After that I shot the same guy's little bird twice, so that was 3 air vehicles in one round which was a bit of extreme luck, but moments like that just give you the best satisfaction you could get in an FPS game :D

Ok so theoretically, if I was thinking about possibly considering getting this, how big is the initial update?

Battlefield upgrade their graphics from time to time.

Call of Duty do not upgrade their graphics. Instead they rearrange the stuff on screen to look different. trying to fool their player base.

;)

I had an awesome moment on Paracel Storm, when I was passenger on one of the smaller choppers. Another chopper came out of nowhere and started blasting us. I took a shot with my sniper and mananged to kill the pilot, dropping the chopper down onto some more enemies below. Was so lucky but my god was it awesome :D

It's about a 25GB download, at most. Not sure how big the retail installation is, but it's sitting at about +/- 25GB at the moment. I don't know why people are complaining about patches though. When the BF patches come out, they are big, sure, but they usually fix a boatload of bugs and the changes with DICE patches are mostly MAJOR. Or it adds new content. It's never really been a problem.

Hahaha that sounds epic dude! Man, you just gotta love Battlefield. There's just no other game like it.

A boatload of bugs you say.... that's a lot of bugs - obviously dependent on the size of said boat.

Yeah its probably not a MAJOR issue - I just hate wanting to play and you're faced with a 5GB update.

BF3 had a big update like that once, but it was pretty much a game changer in terms of bug fixes, and addition to that it included all the new content for all the expansion packs. So ya, you'll not sommer get a 5GB patch dude.

Currently it's around 100-200mb for the retail version.Expect 2-5GB's download when the fist dlc hits.

krrrrrr beep beep krrrr beep krrrrrrrrr..... could not connect to server.

I used to be able to play Quake with modem. I'm pretty sure Battlefield meets the same requirements. And will look splendid on my 14" screen.

Ok enough crap talk - thanks for the info guys.
