Borderlands 2 PC DRM system revealed

Well considering how rubbish that Gamespy crap was they used before this is a large improvement.

I'm totally fine with this. I'd actually prefer it to be on Steam rather than standard retail.

I had a tiny amount of interest in this game, then -

Of course, this only applies to the PC version, and it means that players will have to have Steam installed to play the game.

so it's a pass/fuckthat from me.

Glad they went this route, I was actually hoping they would use Steamworks. :)

Yeah when I read the subject I though they went back to gamespy must say had so much problems with it where it can't see that people are online.

Haha Meph you and your hate for steam :p

Time to find out a way past steam with a legit version of the game just like Skyrim.

You shall not have my serial keys steam!!

I find it slightly interesting that someone who has a signature involving stats from an online only multiplayer game can complain about a platform that benefits people who are always online. :) Not to mention that very same game requires Origin.

Well spotted, also saw that. Complain about Steam but not Origin, when Origin has waaaay more issues.

Borderlands 2 players will enjoy the benefits of Steamworks features, such as Steam Achievements

I'd have no issue with steamworks, but god what achievements? Yet to see a game that actually featured something you actually achieved and not like... "killed 5 monsters"... "killed 10 monsters". wow boy good going hey, not like you can really play without killing. lol.

However after they buttsexed the duke nukem reloaded team I'd not be supporting them till they go non corporate greed route.

I think achievements was just the wrong label to use, should should have been called milestones. I don't mind them, sometimes it nice just to take a look at a friends and see what sort of things they have done, doesn't have to be something exceptional.

Yeah they are so greedy they animated and vo'ed a marriage proposal for one of their fans, for nothing. Damn those greedy sobs.

If nothing else, Steam have some vociferously vengeful fanbois .........

Do Not Speak Ill Of The Master Or You Will Face Wrath !!!

P.S - you can't tell me "vociferously vengeful" doesn't sound awesome as you say it, seriously :D

I dunno, I wouldn't call myself a fanboy. The last time I actually played something on Steam was probably more than a month ago, but I love the platform. Despite its shortcomings, I find owning something on Steam gives me a sense of security I don't get from retail games.

In my case it's more having to have another platform rather than Steam-is-shit. I have no doubt that it's loved by many for good reason ....... I just don't like having more Origins forced on me to play games :/

Why all the love for steam? its a little browser that opens games.

Intrusive bloatware.... Steam alone might have been tolerable, but now origin also wants a piece of my resource pie, and its not gonna end there.

Whether you like Steam or not is your choice but that statement is just utter nonsense. Steam isn't just a "browser that opens games" it's a digital distribution platform which includes many different aspects, most of which I love, some of which I don't.

This "Intrusive bloatware..." has been one of the strongest driving forces for many aspects of PC gaming, so much so that without it PC gaming might not be as strong as it is today.

I strongly agree with this. And with Steam sales increasing 700% year after year, it would be really ignorant to ignore the impact Steam has on the PC gaming industry.

I think you mean 100% year on year, which would make it 700% from when it launched. :)
