ChessConquest - official discussion thread

"Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it."

LOL. Looks like the majority of players are against the censorship idea, so we'll rather build in a feature to give players that ability to block chats, should they wish to play in silence. ;)

In some of the tournaments there are games that have not begun, due to the inactivity of both players. Are there any measures taken to dismiss these permanent games? Here's one example of a tournament being held up by several games that will never reach end. Sorry if it's already been brought up; I presume it has.

Maybe he's had enough of chess. Hehe. Since Diablo III came out it's been difficult to make time to play chess on my side. I'm sure that the passion for chess will come back again at some stage though.

Vixe, just some feedback on this issue... we are busy working through all the tournaments and are removing all games where players failed to make their moves.

We've programmed a new feature into ChessConquest (already applied to live website) so that players can now only enter tournaments once they've completed at least 5 normal games. This should prevent players from signing up, entering a tournament, and then just never coming back to complete the tournament.

(Only active players can enter tournaments).

So yotta... how's version 2 coming along? :)

Not as fast as I hoped... we've been spending a LOT of time working on ChessConquest's sister website (www.real3dtutorials.com)... with the idea of using our 3D research in the next version of ChessConquest... now that Real 3D Tutorials is properly off the ground, I'll start investing more time again in CC v2...

Thanks for the feedback. I'm anticipating a large surge in the number of active games. When going through the tournaments I counted 9 instances where I would be playing an opponent if the permanent, uninitiated game was dismissed. That amounts to 18 new games, plus my current ~20. If you've joined every single tournament over a long time, then you should probably expect the same.

The complete-5-games-before-you-can-enter-a-tournament rule should prevent this situation from happening again in the future.

I'll "fix" only a few tournaments each week, to prevent players from being overwhelmed with to many games at the same time, instead of removing all the players that defaulted their games in one shot.

Doubtful, that assumes you have a brain.... ;)
