Cricket Thread - not the bugs but the buggers playing it :)

Some stats in the wake of our disappointing end; we are the only cricket team that has been crowned as number 1 in one-day and T20 cricket, without winning any silverware in a major competition...:( sad indeed, but still we, the faithful couch-coaches, will support you Proteas!!

No, I'm still 2 weeks away from supporting them again. In the meantime, I'll be a proud Zimbabwean.

We won the inaugural ICC Champions trophy back in 1998 before it became the tournament it is / was as as of the end of the final there will be no more.

We do have the test mace if that counts as silverware in a competition, mind you with the Protea test form the test format isn't much competition :)

There is still the T20 tournament in Bangladesh later this year to look forward to. Another shot at some silverware. Who knows what Russell Domingo could do with the team.

Anyone going to watch the final tomorrow? Personally I lost all interest after the Saffers fell apart against the Poms. So I will probably follow it on the CricBuzz app only.

I heard rumors that the ICC are having doubts about it being hosted there and that SA and India are optional replacement venues. Hope it comes to South Africa :)

Well I hope those rumours are true and that it comes here. The last IPL we hosted impromptu went very well.

What are the concerns about Bangladesh? Completely missed these concerns

Saw it being posted on cricinfo on the espn website, didn't read the article, got distracted but by now they should have further updates on the drama.

I see that India got a big hiding last night from the Sri Lankans. A mammoth 348 from SL and the Indians never got close.

And I see on CricInfo that they're saying that Steyn is unlikely to travel to Sri Lanka.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica/content/current/story/647431.html

Russell Domingo is likely to begin his tenure as South Africa's head coach without Dale Steyn. The fast bowler still needs "about three weeks of rehabilitation" according to team manager Mohammed Moosajee, which could rule him out of the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka that begins on July 20.
