Dark Souls 2 Thread

I own 2 copies of each, that should at least say something :p

I've probably put in 100's of hours of gameplay on each, but let's not count the hours I've spent watching videos (playthroughs, guides, lore, PvP), I can also talk and speculate about these titles for hours on end.

Not to mention trying to save up to buy the FuturePress guides, one of which goes for <2k

So, less than 2 grand can be free as well, no? :p

Why buy all the guides and replay a game if you've already experienced all there is to it? I can understand replaying completely non-linear games (or games with loads of variety) multiple times, but the Souls games have always seemed to me to be about the rush to the next monster, kill it, get some weapon or shield and repeat. Is there actually a strong story and lore to back it up?

Strong story, not so much, but very open ended. The Lore is extremely deep and so open to speculation. Bare in mind, the DS community is one of the biggest game communities on the net!
There so much variety in this game that you don't even realise until you've spent countless hours in it. The PvP adds a whole new realm, but I'm not that much into that. I love to co-op though.
I'm sure < is greater than sign. BUt yeah, the DS1 guide is over R2000 because of limited prints and hard to find now, not many people give them up. It's not just for the guide per se, I know the games like the back of my hands. BUt more for the keepsakes, art work, lore, items descriptions etc. The only reason I still own a PS3 is because the only two games I still have for it are these.

Edit: Oh, and I'm busy playing through another run in Dark Souls 1 on the PS3. Changing things up a bit.

BeoTeK, you and Tsar (and IIRC Wlad) really do have a love affair with this game. Can it really be all that good?

It is good. Lore that doesn't just get spoon fed. Gameplay that beats any action rpg games. Armour and weapons that are so damn awesome and detailed. Secrets to find.

Didn't realise there was a PvP element in the game - might pique my interest. Kinda imagine it to be the way Die By The Sword would be in today's terms. :p

The mathematician in me disagrees strongly with that. If the guide <R2000, it means the guide is less-than R2000, because guide is on the "smaller" (closed) side of the bracket, whilst R2000 is on the "larger" (open) side of the bracket. So if the guide is more than R2000, it would've been >R2000.

Soz, my brain is overactive tonight. :D

The combat is pretty awesome, but the terrible voice acting and dialogue completely put me off, and there is nothing in the story or world that makes me want to keep playing. The lack of ANY guidance is also not for me, but some people love it.

Been rocking the drangleic +2 sword with the partizan +8 spear on a DEX build.Alva armor set is also pretty nice fit between armor and weight and have upgraded all the pieces to +6 so far. Also a royal kite shield that i have yet to upgrade.

Busy doing the iron keep and going to go do shulva afterwards.

Anyone planning on playing BloodBorne?

Oroboro is king!

Some excellent fashion souls in this, especially around 18:42 you'll see someone doing Raziel from Soul Reaver.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but it's definetely the funniest Dark Souls II video I have ever seen:

Well after seeing some new footage of the current gen version of Scholar of the First Sin, I think I'm going to get it for PC. This of course means I will stop playing the current version until then. The new enemy placements are reinvigorating and the DX11 upgrade looks really nice.

I think in the newer version (Scholar of the First Sin) they will be bringing it back to that of Dark Souls 1 difficulty. Be prepared!
