Dark Souls 2 Thread

Yeah, ENB can do that to you. I have been subscribed to his channel for a long time along with Twitter. He's really a cut above the rest of the dredge on YouTube (ie. the likes of PewdiePie).

oh, and FYI, i bought it from Kalahari and it was only R412 :) plus, i had ebucks, so it only cost me about R100!

What are you guys' SL looking like currently? I'm at SL100 now (focusing purely on melee, high STR and DEX build) and busy exploring the Iron Keep (killed the first boss there on Sunday). That boss was a real bitch though, lost countless souls and used up all but one of my effegies to beat him.

I'm also at about level 100, but much further into the game, finished iron keep last weekend. I'm running a quality build atm, using a +10 Sun Sword which has A scaling in both strength and dexterity.

I am about level 150+mixture of strength and dexterity use a dragonic sword +5 it was a bastard to upgrade because it uses twinkling titanite.

I'm only sitting on about level 65 as of last night and played roughly 30hours with a dex character, using Elite Knight Armour set +2 and a Falchion +5 curved sword. Trying to get used the Halberd, hard to master.

One thing I have noticed though is that Titanite is a lot harder to come by than in Dark Souls, and not many places to farm it (if any).

I am currently sitting on around level 90 and about to tackle Sinners Rise (just cleared Belfry Gargoyles)

lost countless souls and used up all but one of my effegies to beat him.

thats the trouble with using effigy to summon help, and then dying :-( makes it incredibly stressful to be in Human form!

Where did you find that sword ?

I only have a couple pieces of twinkling titanite, which is why i didnt bother upgrading that sword :(

Falchion +5 curved sword.

I love the RUN-ATTACK move of that Falchion :) I am planning to upgrade it as soon as i can get some damned Titanite Shards. I have plenty of Chunks while playing in Bell Keeper covenant, but no shards to get to the point where i can use chunks :( but apparently there is a merchant later on (blacksmiths daughter) who sells titanite, so its gonna be fine.

So last night I discovered that I've completely skipped the Belfry Gargoyles.

Was getting my ass handed to me in the Iron Keep so I decided to explore some older areas more a bit (I previously skipped the Executioner's Chariot as well). Tried twice and almost managed to get them, but the last one standing got me with it's flame attack. I'm sure I'll be able to beat them today without too much trouble.

Currently using a Zweihander +5 along with the Drangleic armour and Drangleic shield (blocks 100% physical damage). I also have the Pursuer's Greatsword +1 but it is too heavy to equip and roll around at the moment. If I can find more Twinkling Titanite I would probably go back to using the Drangleic Sword (my favourite weapon in the game thus far), but at the moment it is only +1 and the Zweihander has a lot more damage output.

For those guys who are further in the game: where should I go next? I've killed the first boss in Iron Keep, but the area after his bonfire is kicking my ass really badly so I'm thinking I should rather go somewhere else for now. I've been to the Shaded Woods, but I can't find anything there, all the paths just lead to a dead end. I also noticed that there is an NPC sitting by that big hole in Majula which I assume will allow me to go down there, but I don't know if my character is strong enough yet.

I don't think I'm further than you, I only got to Belfry Luna and Sinner's Rise last night.
But you haven't mentioned anything about Huntsman's Copse or Grave of Saints, some very interesting areas, I've actually progressed quite far through Copse area.

Yeah I've went all the way through Huntsman Copse and the Valley area after that. Just discovered Grave of Saints but the rats are owning me as well. Can't beat the Gargoyles for now, I keep getting invaded in that area even though I joined the covenant. Going to play with my sorcerer for a bit I think.

that area can be insanely frustrating due to the constant invasions. the trick is to first rush thru to the top and ring bell to open the gate to Gargoyles. Then you need to try and get help via Summon sign place placed on the bridge (just before the door to Belfry).

alas, being part of the Bell Keeper covenant doesn't prevent invasion :( but it DOES provide fantastic opportunity to farm Titanite Chunks by being the invader.

man, i was a real evil bar-steward last night :) I got summoned into a guys world and i notice that he had not yet run the bell (coz the door was closed) So i went u the ladder and lay in wait. poor n00b came merrily up the ladder and was attacked by a pair of those dwarves, as well as evil-old-me "whistling:

Are you talking about the Cartographer in the basement of the mansion where there is a map-like diagram on the floor with a burning flame?

'cos I have no idea what all that is about, he talks about venturing into the hole, but I don't see one.

uhhm...the massive huge gaping well in the middle of Majula ? :) The one between the Armour Merchant and the Cat's house

It really sucks that joining the covenant does not prevent invasion. I'm trying to get someone summon me in that area, but my sign is out for about 5 - 10 seconds before I get invaded. Being summoned into someone else's world mid sword swing also isn't pleasant. Will come back to this character and area later, for now I will play a bit with a sorcerer and try out the magic system.

Yeah, that's the one. It leads to Grave of Saints.

.

buddy and i helped each other out. trick is for the HUMAN to wait in that small room just before the platform that leads to Belfry Luna door. the hollow then runs out, places sign, and runs back into room. HUMAN player waits till they can see sign and then runs out and touches and summons. its very very tricky and needs speedy actions to pull off. but in one night, both my buddy and i were able to help each other clear Gargoyles :) we only level 80-90

Yeah I'm level 100 and struggling with invaders. Actually glad I didn't use an effigy to try and summon someone since I only have 2 left.

its gonna be rather tricky to pull off alone. but yeah, you can return when you are more powerful later as its not a mandatory section.

Been playing this game for a while now, I'm a level 70 Bandit, currently about to fight the ruin sentinels. I think I need to re-spec my character since I spent quite a lot of points on magic (which I barely use). I have a few questions about this game though

What are invasions and is it still possible to get invaded if you don't play online?

In order to equip heavier shields and equipment without slowing down, do you need to level up the Vitality attribute? And do the items in your inventory affect your speed or is it just what you have equipped?

How do you summon an NPC to help with boss fights?

Immensely enjoying this game, as mentioned before the level design is amazing and definite GoTY material:)
