Devs/Pubs are killing PC gaming

Guys, the topic is "Devs/Pubs are killing PC gaming", not "Fanboy Flame-War Spam-Fest".

Take the personal attacks to the TK, please.

Unfortunatly Rusty i think it started of as a Fanboy Flame-War

No necuno this isn't a blame game, there are multiple problems, piracy, casual gamers, greedy devs/publishers, unfortunately to me there seems no solution

As I said in another thread a while ago. It used to help regulate the quality of the market, it was incentive for devs to make there games better.
No your wrong, piracy isn't "necessary" But it is an evil that devs/pubs have to live with it been around since the printing press was invented and FFS probably be around till we all die (Freelancer even had it as a tradebel commodity) devs/Pubs need to learn a way to combat it effectively, not run away or ultra high DRM

FYI This wasn't a Platform fanboy fight  I was simply stating how the PC seems to be getting the shit end of the stick lately.
For the record I am not a PC "Elitist" "Fanboi" maybe if your read my other posts you would see that I believe all platforms have their strong/weak points.
Tho even tho I have that view, I will always remain a PC gamer, I may have a console or 2 but in the end, a majority of my gaming hours will be on PC, why? because I prefer it! and last time I checked that didn't count as "elitism" of "fanboism"

AHAHAHA @ Raven Gold I was busy reading your comments while eating my KFC meal and I managed to snort coke up my nose. You the person who has lost all grip on reality (Do you share your world with unicorns and rainbows?) and shows absolute paranoia that the casual gamer is going to stab you in your sleep for your "hardcore" games you just made my day.

I sir salute you for absolutely hilarious posts that show no regard for reality or facts.

hmmmm... your post doesn't even contribute to the thread.

Why don't you enlighten us with the reality and facts larch instead of personally attacking someone who doesn't agree with you.

And yours even less so. Pot calling the kettle black much? I would love to sink my teeth into this discussion but the moment someone said piracy is justified this threads credibility flew out the window and why waste time, research and effort when someone actually believes that taking something without permission which = stealing can be justified on any level. Not to mention the topic is laughable at best: "Devs/Pubs are killing PC gaming " why would they kill something they make money out of. Isn't that a contradiction?

The i apologize for understanding it the wrong way. But from what i read thats what it sounded like.

I completely disagree with that. I think the PC is starting to pull out some Gems as of lately. Sure, there no exclusive "epics" (mass effect, borderlands etc etc) but the indie scene has had an explosion as of late.

If it werent for Direct to drive, GOG and steam I'd agree that PC gaming is dying. Steam is by far the best "DRM" there is, unlimited installs, play almost anywhere (and with the 'cloud' coming, access save games anywhere). Sure, sucky that you need to be online but already to play pc games you have to be online to activate anyway! In sa the auto update hurts, but thats Sa's fault.

Suddenly, steam goes on special and you can grab gems like torchlight for $5, and a whole mass of games 80% cheaper! Cheap games - we are happy, valve is happy, devs of games are happy with sales too. Suddenly PC games are being supported very well.

PC gaming isn't dying, it changing forms (for the better!).

Yes, i agree, it is a contradiction. You are right. You see now you said something and made your opinion known without attacking anyone.

I really believe DRM on any level is really a waste of time. Piracy will happen. No matter what they do someone will crack it and you'll be able to download it on torrents. DRM is just not going to stop that. A person who is going to download the game is going to download the game. I'm not condoning it, not at all, but it WILL happen. The developers and publishers are only making things worse for themselves by placing restrictions on people that were going to buy the game anyway. Look at spore. People who otherwise may have bought it pirated it on principle.

Overly restrictive DRM can't stop piracy and only alienates paying customers IMO. :) As said in the post before, steam is the perfect example of DRM that does not limit your use of the game. Install however many times you want etc. Anything over and above steam is overkill.
