Diablo 3 Beta - Feedback :}

1Mb MWEB uncapped and we had two people playing at the same time on the one line.

hmm, well I am still on 384 capped with telkom so yeah bring on local server.
But because of the price drop in the mweb offerings that does look very promising as my choice of who to go for then as it looks like I will be upgrading in a couple months

I will measure bandwidth usage tonight and will let you know if it exceeds the 384k threshold (+/- 40KB/s), but I don't think it uses all that much tbh.

and that is why everyday I hate you :D lol
Isn't that a fairly slow connection in UK though, not being a dick but compared to what is on offer up there?

@Isengard
Shot, please do that would be awesome

I think its pretty standard. You can get fibre lines and such that run up to 60mb/s (we have one in the office) but the complex where I live has an ancient internal exchange which means max I can get is 20mb/s.

Here is a list of the top 10 Broadband deals here in the Uk. I have a variant of number 4 that is faster and uncapped. When I move into a house (before the end of the year hopefully) I hope to get no 3 or some variant there of with at least 60mb/s uncapped.

I pay £153 (1,932.66 ZAR) every 3 months, yes my phone bill only goes off once every 3 months. :) So it works out to £50 (631ZAR) a month which is a good deal anywhere. It includes free evening and weekend calls to other landlines, cheap international calls & line rental. In SA my 512kb line rental & Uncapped account from Afrihost cost me over R1K a month.

Edit: I see I have free calls to Landlines at any time :D & According to my ISP my avarage monthly usage is about 400gb.

I played WoW on a 384 capped Telkom line on an overseas server, and it worked fine. Cannot see Diablo 3 needing more bandwidth than WoW. Also, capped accounts are unshaped, so you don't have to worry about that. The only possible problem I see is that your ISP is Telkom. They are not the best out there, nor the cheapest as far as I know.
Even upgrading to a 384 uncapped with someone like Openweb or IS should not work out any more expensive than what you are paying now.

Ah, Blazzok, now I see you on the forums :)

Just to add a bit more information here:

- WoW has a GCD (global cooldown. 1.5s), which makes a 200-500ms latency playable and not so bad (although high-end PvP not so much) amongst other reasons. Because D3 is an ARPG, there is a much higher reliance on quick reactions. Also, if it takes you 1 second to loot a mob in WoW, or 1 second for a mob to drop loot in D3, you can feel the difference. Big time.

- Regarding all capped accounts being unshaped, I don't know if thats true. Regarding Telkom however, I know people give them a moer of a hard time and deservedly so, but when I used to play WoW (stopped mid-last year), my Telkom account gave me a 250-300ms latency in WoW, which was awesome. In Diablo 3 BETA, it hovers between 350-500ms, but remember, the BETA servers are in US. No doubt EU servers will be much lower. I am guessing, on a 10mb/s line (sync'd @ 6mb/s) using Telkom as an ISP, you'll sit with around 300ms. Highly playable and enjoyable. In my D3 experience so far, when your latency goes over 450, you start feeling it with you attacks and when mobs drop loot.

I actually expect EU latency to be under 300. All the MMO's I play have an average ping of about 250.

Okay so I tested with 2 players in the final boss fight and the max download was around 6KB/s. It's safe to say that the 384k will be more than sufficient. :)

What the hell do you do in 400gb. That is huge, besides it would take my internet close on a year to do that lol.
Oh and by the way 153 divided by 3 is 51 not 50 :p lol
but yeah 153 quid doesn't seem so bad every 3 months. Just really can't wait till SA starts getting closer to overseas rates and tech

Netflix FTW HD all the way. I also have about 3.8gb in Dropbox for Project files. Alot of Skype Calls. I also watch any video thats online in Full HD. Download anything on Xbox live that I want. If your not limited you stop thinking about it. :p

£1 is really nothing so I don't even count it. :p

So here is my feedback on the Beta:

General - 8/10

Gameplay - 7/10 - I have enjoyed what i have played so far but i don't think there is enough to give it a proper rating

Atmosphere - 8/10 - Like the atmosphere dark and the music is amazing

Graphics - 7/10 - Love the style of the game look's new enough for it to be OK for 2012 and still keep's close to the diablo theme. Would really have loved to see high textures for the this...

Presentation - 8/10 - The quest's are informative enough for you to know what you are doing and why but to not much so you get bogged down with to much detail

Music - 7/10 - Liked the music

Skill system - 7/10 - Enjoyed the skill system even with the limited amount of skills we have using different skills felt different. Would have preffered a bit more customisation with regards to how I assign my skill points....feels dumbed down

UI - 9/10 - Clean simple effective

Chat system - N/A - I haven't used this system enough to comment on it

Normal Difficulty (Beta)- 8/10 - This is beta first Act on normal difficulty i didn't expect a challenge i expected to be eased in to the game and i was. I was able to ramp up the difficulty by skipping a lot of content and going solo in a co-op room

Number of players in same Game - 8/10 - 4 is perfect any more and the game will just become to messy just a cluster!@#$ of spell's in tight corridor's

PVP - N/A - no PvP in the Beta

Errrr...How can you even review a beta? It's like trying to change your son's nappy while he is still in the womb.

Quick and easy steps to writing a Review:
1.Wait for full release
2.Play
3.Play some more
4.Review and add your opinion

Maybe you should read before you comment...I gave my "Feedback" on the beta....I have not "Reviewed" it...We all know you cannot review a beta...Everything can change in the final product...Hence my "feedback" and not "review" of the beta...

LOL

but don't worry Alastorr, Spartan is from iGame and they don't matter :0

@Phatso, Not everything in WOW has a 1.5 sec GCD... not sure where u get that from :) I seriously don't think D3 has a higher reliance on quick reactions.
Think something like Ragnaros Heroic. Moving and positioning immediately is so, so core and important to that fight that with lag you just cant do it.
Yes its different comparing the 2 but don't go compare Wow questing to D3.

Also let me ask how you'd rate Dota 2 vs D3 considering latency?

Slight correction the beta is not the full part of act 1, it is only little tiny pieces of what may be act 1 and extreamly dumbed down. Blizzard really did not want to spoil storyline and reveal too much in the Beta. Damn I cant wait for this game!

Meh SnowWar, it was part of the reason why latency is more "forgivable" in WoW, esp regarding PvP, not the entire reason.
(standing in fire can happen in less than 1.5s.. I know ;) )

Just 2 quotes from Bashiok (from Blizz) who recently went bef*k wild and gave out a lot of information:

You put out a system that moves you along and does not give you a SINGLE choice in the matter
Hrm. Oh, you mean until level 13? Well we specifically unlock very few abilities to start, but pretty quickly we have to be dumping handfuls on you every level. With as many skills and passives as there are it very quickly ramps up where every level you're getting four or five new things to try out, in addition to everything before it. There's no shortage of choice. I agree the choices are unlocked in a pre-determined way, but so are skill trees.

Also for reference you finish Normal right around level 30, Nightmare at 50, and Hell at 60.

All in all, a great game, it seems.
The only problem is that simply being great won't cut it for Diablo 3. It has to be the sequel to Diablo 2, which is still one of the greatest games of the PC Gaming era. And in a time when sequels like Portal 2 can take an existing formula, run with it and add so much more to a sequel making it almost better than the original, simply releasing a great sequel isn't gonna cut it.
I feel that the areas are slightly too limited and narrow for a Diablo game, and although the skill trees are a newish take on the system, having more options would go a LONG way with the gaming crowd.
In the end, I don't feel that this game deserves R100 more of my money than any other game out there, ESPECIALLY not when it requires always-on internet even for single-player
