Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

($* I cant wait for midnight today :D Picking up my copy from BTGAMES tygervalley, then going to friends house to install and play all night/morning long!!!!!

Toke the 15th off from work :p
 
So those who downloaded the Diablo III installer, are you able to install it yet or must we wait until midnight? The reason I ask is because when I run the installer it says "Updating setup files..." but there's no network activity whatsoever.

Install lock is lifted at 5pm CEST today.
 
Mine was downloaded but remember the installation is locked until 5pm cest. So tonite will be able to install it.
 
Anyone have any idea what the bandwidth requirements are for Diablo? wondering how many people you can have on one connection.

D3 uses +- 6kb/sec down and just about the same up for single play, so 384 is more than enough to handle that data. Sillicur and others explained the rest. The game would have worked fine 15 years ago on modem :p

Woops, sorry missed this Omega. So SnowWar does this mean you could have more than one player on a 384 line?
 
Well it looks like my installer is borked in any case. The size is smaller than it's supposed to be and I get an error when I run it...

When it's done downloading it will look like this

They picked up an error with the old downloaded, so if you downloaded the downloaded before saturday I think it was you had to redownload. See this post:

If you've pre-downloaded the digital version of the game in these languages before 10:00 AM CEST (9:00 AM GMT) on Saturday May 12, you must obtain the new downloaders to be able to install properly once the game is released on May 15. We apologize for the inconvenience, and ask that you please let friends and acquaintances know so they can begin downloading the working installer that's now available.1. Obtain the new Diablo III digital downloader using the links below
2. Point the download save at the same directory as before
3. If you chose the correct directory only 50MB will need to be downloaded to fix your install, otherwise you'll re-download the entire ~7.6GB
New EU English Installer
New EU English Installer (Mac)


Whether you repair your previous install or download the entire game again, it's necessary to use this new downloader to install and play the game when it launches.

I'm sooo watching this thread. I bet it'll be mayhem until midnight :P

It'll be cool see everyone's impressions/opinions of the game.
 
Amazon has updated my order to dispatching soon. If this wasn't the UK & it wasn't getting dispatched with City Link, UPS or FedEX (like I know it will be) I would be worried. My CE will be waiting for me when I get home tomorrow. YEAH!

I'm betting it will be mayhem for the next couple of weeks, but there will certainly be a lot of anticipation until at least midnight.

Kind of wish I could just tell Takealot to just send me my code before they ship it, but on the other hand I wouldn't want anyone else to open my box.

Good thing you didn't get it from Look and Listen, they open everything first.
