i will NOT let anyone ruin my good time by calling me out.
And feeding, playing like a total chop with one of the hardest heroes to master in the game, causing your team to lose, aggravating them? That's ok, as long as
you're having a good time?
"Oh hey buddy, yeah, no problem dying all those times, feeding their team. It's ok that you took Pudge for the first time
ever, and demanded mid, then died 8 times in the first 8 minutes. We honestly didn't mind just throwing away the last 40 minutes of our lives for you. Here, have a hug. You're made of win." How about NO.
Honestly guys - if you've
NEVER played a hero before, especially one that you
really can't get away with fucking up on, play it against bots
first - you'll be doing yourself, and the four other random guys you'll be teaming up with, a huge favour.
And yes, playing badly, feeding the other team, and wasting your team mates' time is reportable as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me wrong: we
all have bad games, but we quickly realise what's happening, and try and adjust our game, so as to not further feed, etc. This guy was just plain terrible, and his only response was "first time pudge lol" and "xD", so yes, we all reported him.

I thought above 50% win rate was the norm
I'm the lucky guy who gets 5-carry teams, or four supports, with no warding, mechs, etc. Or my new favourite: 3 junglers. Really.

You must remember that dota does not have surrender so its not like lol where one character gets op you can just surrender.dota you have to wait an hour for the winning team to get all the items they want before they will actually finish.
^This. You have to sit there and take it with no lube, while the other team just takes their time clearing everything. If you're lucky, someone on your team rage quits, you take the loss like a man, and you can get into a new game, and try again. This rarely happens, though.

I disagree generally with reporting peeps for playing badly, especially after playing a 1st time chen (worst Chen ever played, seriously, I broke all sorts of records that night, ask InSanity) in Single Draft mode (all the heroes were heroes I'd never played, Chen being the only support). Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a reasonably good support (my primary role in most games), but that game was purely horrible and I was probably (scratch the probability, there's no doubt

) the reason we lost that game. Now, I have a 53.26% win rate (196 wins vs 172 losses), which would mean that I'm somewhat experienced.
So how does a player with some level of experience fail that badly regardless of the fact that he or she's playing a hero for the 1st time?
Sometimes people need to remember, that the mindset of the lowest common denominator in the team (the weakest link) in a game that's not going as hoped, differs from the rest of team (no matter how experienced, because I've seen some things that would get a person flamed in pubs happening in top tier competitive games). The rest of the team knows that they're losing because player A is playing a terribly but they'll still try their best to salvage a game, but said player A's analysis of the game, and by proxy their gameplay is impaired because they know that they're the weak link, and as you all know, Dota is one game that punishes mistakes that are made (if you're playing a good team anyway

).
Now imagine all that going through Player A's mind; you're the weakest link in the game, you're probably the reason your team is losing, every mistake you're making is compounding the effect of the previous 2 thoughts. Strain on top of strain (at least in my delightful Chen experience).
Now, you obviously can't play a record breaking Chen without being praised for it, can you (yes, that's sarcasm

)? I had one guy who eventually tuned the hell out of me, even if I apologized earlier and repeatedly explained my hero selection predicament. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying each player who has a horrible game has the same experience (in terms of situations) as I did, but their reason for playing a bad game can vary and you can never truly know if they're valid or not (who is qualified to say what is a reason valid or not?). I've even had a few horrible Jakiro games (my favorite hero), even one where a guy was like I should never play that hero ever again.
I almost never report for playing horribly (I even tune my clan mates sometimes for doing so), unless you admit to intentional feeding (a few guys have actually done that).
TL;DR I only ever report peeps for abusive language, being jerks, and general bad attitude.
---------------------------------
I understand what you're saying. My point was that this guy had a similar level to mine and purposely picked a hero (All Pick) he had never played before. For all I know, this guy may just have been a troll - there is literally no other explanation for it. At my level (50+ now) I've learned a lot about the game, and it's heroes (I've made a point of playing all of them at least once - either with four other friends if it's the first time, or against bots). This guy really did
not have a clue.

I only report assholes!
Unfortunately you will get people who can't play the game in your team every now and then. Nothing we can do about it, but being an asshole and telling him to delete Dota or remove himself from existence isn't going to help either. Precisely one of the things that's wrong with SA Gamers, instead of helping the guy we take them apart. Bad attitude guys
I'm definitely not
that guy: I have an extremely high tolerance level. I'm the motivator in every game I play, whether it's with my team, or in a pub. I'm always on comms, giving compliments ("well played guys!" or "nice one, Omni!") when we're doing well, and building us up ("ouch, unlucky guys" or "sooooo close with that hook Pudge! You'll get it next time") when we're not.
I was in a game the other night where one of the guys was obviously new (gg fucked matchmaking), and one of the experienced guys on our side just kept raging and swearing at this poor dude the whole game, and he wasn't even playing that badly (he finished like 5-8 on Zeus). The rest of us tried to help the new guy throughout the game, but this other guy was just a complete fucking asshole, so we all muted and reported him. The other team did too, as he was also raging in chat. South African, btw. I have no problem with noobs, or helping them
ever: we were
all level 1 once.
