Dragon Age Inquisition

What's wrong with the PC controls - aside form no mouse additional mouse button support?

That's another good point. I tried to assign search to a peripheral mouse button and I couldn't. WTF

The keyboard/mouse controls are fine if you never use tactical mode. I don't have an issue using them to run around and kill things in third person rear-veiw. The tactical view controls are extremely awkward though. Trying to select and assign different party members to different parts of the map that are slightly far away from one another is a pain. The position marker is locked to your central view on the screen when using WASD, and is downright uncomfortable when using the middle mouse to move it around. It's clearly designed for a controller and has not been optimised for keyboard/mouse. If you compare the way that the tactical perspective handles when compared to DA:O, the differences are vast. If they did that for a game 8-odd years ago, I'm sure they could have done it here. It's just lazy implementation for the PC.

What DA: O had was:

Click on party AI portrait, and select means of attack on given enemy (while hovering over enemy); in DA: I, you switch to the character every time making it an annoyance if you want to quick put together a strategy for taking down an enemy - which is why I almost never use the tactical mode, unless I wish to AoE my party members.

Well pretty much exactly. Trying to put together a strategy in Inquisition is a slow and painful process. That's why I think it can be improved. I'm hoping that using a controller will make this process easier or at least feel more natural.

I'm also gonna give the controller another shot now. Although this time I will use the PS4 controller and not the X360 one.

Its not as good as DAO. The cam in tactical cannot view out as far and gets blacked by obstacles like trees, ect.

Will continue to stick to the kb/mouse as I hate playing rpg's with the gamepad.

OFC this could be fixed if BW allowed mods like for DAO...Now we have to wait on them instead...

I've switched from Keyboard/Mouse to xbox 360 controller. I just find it frustrating you can't have both enabled at the same time.

I created a character last night for the 1st time, but restarted straight away because beards look really crap. It looks like you are wearing a fake beard because of the gap between the beard and your face. Figured since its a long game it was going to really irritate me in cut-scenes and it was wroth a restart.

I unfortunately found the OP build of the game, so I'm probably intentionally going to have to nerf myself in order to maintain some semblance of challenge... :(

I was as well surprised that the game didn't automatically switch between KB and controller (like using them at the same time); an either/or situation. Still playing with my controller and still enjoying doing so.

I'm actually contemplating investing in a Play and Charge Kit for my controller - that, or investing in rechargeable batteries; still in two minds about that.

After playing with the controller for a bit yesterday I switched back to k/b & mouse. The controller works well for melee combat and the camera controls a lot better with it, but I prefer the mouse for the menus and conversations etc. It really sucks that you can't use both at the same time.

I may switch back if I get my room makeover sorted. Would love to play with KB+M, but it's too uncomfortable right now for that - especially for extended periods.

Exactly how I felt, I thought it was pretty standard now days that games can switch between the two without hassle. Specially for this game since it really sounds like most agree, somethings feel better with a controller other better with a keyboard and mouse.

In regards to my controller, I have an old school wired controller. sad thing though is its coming to the end of its life, my puppy seems to really enjoy chewing on the thumb-sticks and the cable.

This game is so fucking buggy! They pop up everywhere and it's ruining a game I otherwise enjoy. :(

I haven't encountered very many bugs. Sometimes my dialogue-selection(s) screen craps out though forcing me to hit a number on my KB rather than to click a desired dialogue option.

There are, however, times on start-up where the game would freeze by the main screen, forcing me to end the process through TM.

Most other issues I think are just system-related.

I have NPCs swimming in the ground, companions doing nothing while being attacked, NPCs getting stuck on geometry, NPCs running through geometry such as mountains, invisible companions in Skyhold, invisible enemies attacking me, etc.

I played 40 hours without being able to talk to Cole before I read online that he's not supposed to be invisible in the tavern and that saving and reloading in front of him fixes the bug. Apparently romances are bugged too meaning they don't advance fast enough and players are going through the entire game without experiencing them.

The only question I've got is who the hell playtested this thing?

So it seems me being too busy this year to start the game is a blessing :). Hopefully they've fixed all the issues by the time I start playing.

I am on Xbox one and I don't have any issues. About 30 hours in. Only thing that happens sometimes is the sound dissapears. But it comes back again after drinking a potion.

The thing is though that not everyone is experiencing issues. I'm over 40 hours in and only had very minor bugs, nothing as extensive as Graal is having.
