F1 2010 and 2011

Here's some awesome feedback I saw on Steam. Can't wait to play this tonight!

"I'm around 10 hours into F1 2011 and to put it short, I love it.

The difference between F1 2010 and 2011 is night and day.

Handling and Physics:
The handling has improved dramatically, no more scripted spin outs, you can actually feel when you're losing the backend and recover from it/catch it. It brings a nice new challenge to the game, it took me a little while to basically relearn how to handle the car but it was a much welcomed change, makes the game 100x better for me.

KERS and DRS:
Both are great additions to the game and feel great, they're integrated as well as their real life counterparts, DRS is usable in practice and qualification anywhere/anytime, I have already had a number of crashes because of early activation of the drs when coming out of corners, in the race you'll have to wait for it to be enabled and be in a 1 second gap of the car in front in order to use it in the activation points. DRS is disabled in heavy rain. KERS will recharge after every lap, usuable in the rain.

AI:
Huge improvement over 2010, they actually feel like they're racing now instead of driving around on their pre-determined paths.

Engineer:
The engineer now gives a lot more feedback over the radio now, information of the person in front, how many laps they estimate before they pit, their tyre choice and other general advice eg: recommended fuel mixes etc. You'll also get information on your team mate, when he's pitting, if he goes out etc. The engineer is also in multiplayer this time around.

Sound:
The sound is great, F1 2010 had impressive sound, sounds even better this time around.

Graphics:
The graphics look great, DX11 is in from release, there's no more "jarate-filter", game benefits a lot from the much more colourful look.

Proving Ground:
This year around as well as time trial you also have time attack which are basically premade challenges (eg: fastest lap at Spa in heavy rain using a mclaren etc) that you can compete in to get either bronze, silver, gold medals depending on your time and also their is a global/friend leaderboard hooked up to it.

Multiplayer:
Also has seen a number of improvements, game supports join in progress now as well as proper spectate mode. You get objectives now like you do in career mode which will give you an xp bonus and your engineer talks to you now as well, he will inform you of who is pitting, their tyre strategy, times/gaps etc.

Those are my initial impressions, I'll update an post if I remember anything I forgot. Feel free to add your own impressions."

Been playing it for a couple of hours. The biggest improvement for me is the handling. The comments above are so true. You feel the car losing grip and you can hear the tires letting go which gives you juuuust enough time to recover. Also, it makes you much more confident to keep pushing.

Excellent game!

Great stuff, thanks guys! I'm definitely getting this!

I had a lot of fun with this game last night. Co-OP is a very welcome addition.

You are able to push the car a lot more than in 2010 but without TC you should watch how quick you get onto the power. Another nice addition is the DRS and KERS loads of fun and spectacular spins/crashes if you use it in the wrong places on track.

I love the new "interface" even being in your motorhome feels more like you are a F1 driver. You also get a lot more feedback in a race from your engineer which was sorely missed in 2010

The game feels so much more finished than 2010 (which I also enjoyed a lot) and this is a night and day scenario.

Cons:

I had a lot of frame rate drops in 2010 and Dirt 3 and once experienced it in F1 2011 which is a bit frustrating as it can kill game play for a few seconds.

The engineer's voice is boring and not as passionate as mentioned on the earlier post but not a biggy.

Here's a video to show how it looks.

ad me in GFWL for some co-op or MP racing tiens666

Just got my copy today and loving it so far. Handling is so much better. AI much improved to. Alonso doesn't give up his place easy

Haven't done a full 100% race yet so can't speak on tyres and safety car. But, using DRS and KERS is such a joy when you get it right, funny as hell when you get it wrong. As stated above, the presentation is way better than 2010. But they've still failed on this "live the life" crap.

Got TrackIR hooked up. Just waiting for my new wheel and then I'll see you online gentlemen.

How is TrackIR? I've been tempted to get it a few times...

To me it makes a world of difference. You can look into tight turns and spot where you want to put your car on the kerb, and more importantly the next kerb. You can also look left/right to the sides or in the mirrors, which greatly increases spatial awareness when you dicing with another car.

I'll throw something up on youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks! I notice how you look into the corners. Looks like I'll be getting it after all. KERS FTW! :D

I have had the pleasure to race the F1 2010, I can not wait to own F1 2011.
This is a must for any racer out there !!!

Man o man, anyone try racing in the rain with no assists? Most intense race I've ever had.

Thanks! I notice how you look into the corners. Looks like I'll be getting it after all. KERS FTW! :D

PM me if you do, and I'll semd you my trackIR profile
