Fallout: New Vegas official discussion thread

picked it up today, just installed it to hd on 360, did the stat stuff and walked out into the game world. Saved it right there and gonna sit down to a extended session tomorrow after work, am looking forward to it.

Its being made by people who worked on fallout 1 and fallout 2, especially fallout 2. So far for me this is much more enjoyable then fallout 3. Story and writting is way better, but I expect that bethesda's writers have nothing on chris avellone.

My sentiments exactly. Really loving this more and more every minute I play. I'm about 20 hours in now and right outside the New Vegas strip, I can go in if I want to but I'd rather explore the surroundings and do some side quests first for now.

I've played all day yesterday myself and still haven't set foot anywhere near the strip :). Exploring and finding side quests is far too distracting :D.
 
Yeah, I hear you man. I was standing right at the gate last night pondering whether or not I should go in. I then decided to have a look around the area for interesting people - 4 hours later I'm still doing sidequests there. :p

That's when you have the spotter perk, or if that Boone sniper dude is with you. Enemies around you turn red when you zoom in on them. Quite useful for when you're walking in a large open area.

ANyhow, this game is so much fun! Been playing all of last night as well as the whole day so far :D. It's way more engaging that FA3 and the voice actiang is brilliant. I'm digging the story as well. I'm glad I bought it. I havent had one bug so far. Just one crash but that wasn't bad.

Yeah and the story really gets complicated once your in the strip.

^^ yeah there is a shit load more side quest and well I decided to just check out the strip and I get overloaded with quest atm. there is no clear cut as to what you must do and its up to you what you want to do.

Love the perks you get for killing stuff as well like bug stomper :D do more damage to bugs.

OMG who else hate those fly things?

Only 1 they are fine but when they pack you had 9 on me one time omw there was just no escape and I did not have a flamer or something heavy to take them out. And for some reason the shotgun does almost no damage to them :O
 
Dead thread, but hey...played it on my buddy's xbox on Friday and all i can say is the game is BROKEN. Crashes, scripting errors, hanging, corrupt saves, its a freaking joke. Lucky I am back in JHB and will play the PC version, lol...

Maybe the X360 version is/was broken (there was a patch), but not the PS3 version from my experience. I have played for about 27 hours now with no crashes, scripting errors, hanging, corrupt saves or freaking jokes. Have friends playing it on PC as well and none of them have complained as of yet. Maybe your friend's X360 is broken?
 
I wasn't supposed to but I played anyway :( Going to stop now...
But what's bothering me is getting into the Strip. I don't have 2000 caps, BUT, I did ask for the favour from the King.
Being impulsive as I am, I didn't read what he said on how to get into the Strip. Where/Who do I go to? Anyone help?

There is a store in Freeside (same area as Kings HQ) think it's called Mick & Rick or something. You can get a counterfeit passport from them and then you just walk up to the robot by the gate and show him your passport. If they attack you (happened to me at first) you can find a dead robot on the ground with a New Vegas gate key. Just run past the robots and open the gate with your newly acquired key.

To get rid of a companion: go to a secluded area with no witnesses and kill him/her. :p

Are you playing on that new Hardcore 'Survival' dificulty?

And isn't there a place I can just "offload" my companions? Like F3 when I just left Dogmeat at my home?

Boone is awesome, but Rex is annoying and useless.

I'm pretty sure you can just speak to him and using the "wheel" tell him to "Wait here" or something like that. Boone is a real life saver btw. I have him and ED-E on my team and we're quite a team. :D

How do you get more than one person in your party? I have Boone atm, but I tried recruiting that chick with the robot arm thingy and the only dialogue options I get when I speak to her, regarding joining the party, is "I would love to take you with but can't right now" ....
