Far Cry 4

really? thats odd. I am on a mediocre rig (i5 with 8GB ram) and game runs like butter on ULTRA :-) i guess it must be by GTX970

are you running an AMD card? apparently, game has been optimized for NVIDIA card

The game is totally gimped on AMD gpu's.
My current R9 290X is the fastest money can buy, overclocks like an absolute beast, beats the 970 and is = to the 980 in almost every single game, except this one. At least Ubisoft and AMD are working on it and the latest drivers did make a massive difference but there is def another 20 fps that they can extract from the game.

The game looks amazing, Im just getting slight pauses when driving even on a 970 hopefully that gets sorted out, or I may have to disable things in config file.

Also nvidia fur and bokeh depth of field arrives this Friday in the 1.04 patch yay.

The game is awesome, back off haters!!!! :D

I must say, my rig seems to struggle a little bit in Ultra, just every now and then.... I run an i7, 12 Gigs RAM, MSI 7950 TwinFrozr3...

BUT there is one thing that pisses me off: I cannot log into the UPlay site. I am logged into the UPlay client, and that works fine. I can even play the game. But when I log into UPlay site (to redeem the pre-order code) then I get "wrong password or username". Now, I know what my password is, and I can log in and out of the UPlay client with it... yet the site does not allow me in.

I have tried the reset password link, and I follow the link I get in the email and when I reset the password, I immediately get "Password reset link expired".

So, I cannot get into UPlay site to redeem my code. And the Support site has like 5 support topics, and no way to contact them directly.

Anyone have any ideas?

You sure it's not something else? These benchmarks show the 290x getting the second best fps.

The game doesn't have a benchmark built in, they ran recorded runs to determine it.
What they don't mention is the insane stuttering, how the game goes from 80fps to 25fps and then back up to 80 at random points.
Reminds me a lot of Watch Dogs and the random frame drops, the game def runs more stable on Nividia cards, I've personally tested it and there is a pretty big difference with the smoothness of the game, the stuttering is still there but not nearly as bad.

Edit: I'll try make a video to show what I am on about lol

Some of the issues are reported in that thread, Ubisoft themselves have admitted to the poor performance on AMD.

Doesn't look bad, but its doesn't look overly better than 3. Im pretty happy co-op is becoming more common place though. Will most likely get this down the line.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. Really fun (even the SP for the time being) and it looks B.E.A.UTIFUL!!!

Far Cry 4 Frame Stuttering, Lag, & FPS Drops

As unveiled in our GPU benchmark, Far Cry 4 suffers from severe frame stuttering and frame drops when using AMD video cards. When panning from left-to-right on an AMD card, users will notice jarring render output that repeats previous frames repeatedly, creating “stuttering.” Stuttering is sometimes described simply as “lag,” though that lacks the specificity required to determine an easy solution.

We found that there's no escape from stuttering on AMD devices, even the 4GB 290X we tested with. It's possible to mitigate frame stuttering on AMD cards by reducing settings and disabling anti-aliasing and AO entirely; these actions should make Far Cry 4 more playable, though it'll still frame drop with regularity.

Unfortunately, there's no solid solution beyond dropping these settings until Ubisoft releases a fix for AMD

Pretty messed up. I won't bother getting it till these issue are sorted out... Micro stutter makes me furious.

Bah, people said the same for BF4... the game has just released the final add-on and still there are bugs :)

I enjoy the game, love it in fact.... but there's definitely something up with frame drops (i.e. super fast on ULTRA, and the super slow for a second or 2, then back to normal)

I just cant deal with stutters, I can ignore a lot of faults but micro stutters is just something I can't. I wont be able to enjoy the game like that... :(

I blame my inferior hardware, and having to play it on Ultra. I am sure I won't get that on High quality, but I have to play it on Ultra!!!

Games will always have bugs (some less than others), that won't stop me from still wanting to buy BF4 - which I'm still going to... eventually.

I feel inclined to agree. Saints Row 2 has this problem (among many others), but because of a SERIOUS LOVE for the game, I CAN look passed that -- it still irritates the hell out of me sometimes.

Is Ultra really such a great significant difference from High or better yet, Very High?
