FEAR 2 going for over R480 is BS

well there was the day when return to castle wolfenstein costed R960....

...i myself wouldn't pay to much for a play once title (horror shooters), i mean you can only get the frights once and then you know when and where its going to happen the next round.

Yeah it's really becoming insane the prices they are asking for these titles. Not good business milking a sector that has such rampant piracy. Shouldn't they be sweetening the deal? Idiots...

Hmmm its looks like our PC games prices are finally catching up with internation pricing. I was wandering when this was going to happen.

Madness.Then I again, I suppose it is a luxury item. <sigh>

Now I understand why you created the other thread, Joker.

High Game Prices:Just say No.

I would have thought that given the current economic recession the price of games would be lowered to entice gamers to buy more games.

Sadly there will never be a price war among games, as there is between Intel/AMD, nVidia/ATi

How much tax do you have to pay at customs?

On luxury items you pay ridiculous amount of customs duty. It's really not worth bringing small quantities in. I once bought some Ctrl+Alt+Del merchandise through the SplitReason store and when the package landed at the post office I had to pay 50-60% (I can't remember exactly now) of the package's total value in duties.

any local link for a demo of fear2? as i had loads of playing fear, so before splashing out, i'd like to test it

I bought my XFX GTX260 in England in December, the Import Duties/Tax were R960!

Yeah ... its the latest thing.

Rip off the people that support you. Almost as bad as EA with their Spore debacle last year.

I don't like the idea of piracy all that much either - but for those sort of prices I'll make do until the game hits the bargain bin ...

I played the demo today and was left very impressed, but something about the lighting makes the game seem almost cartoon-y to me. I still got some good frights from it (okay one good fright) :D.

I'm sure the game will be great but up until now new PC game titles have always been around the R300 mark. Thats quite a chunk above the average to pay. But as the trend shows we'll probably all end up forking our money out for a good game anyway.

It's not great, single player sucks ass. Guns aren't nice at all. You spend the entire game playing with the assault rifle because you never get ammo for the "nail gun thing" which by the way is horrible in this. It just doesn't have the same power as it used to have.

And you get raped.

The guns felt quite nice in the demo, a lot better than some other games I've played, but I suppose after an extended playing period the same guns could get tiresome. I was pleasantly surprised by the mech suite part, it was more fun than I expected it to be :).
