Whoops! LOL. You know what happened? When I said 30 years I had the number 2030 in my head. I think that's where the error occurred in my calculation.

No need to cover for your calculator. If it's outdated, it's outdated. Abolishment is your only option now (sorry). But do break it to him/her gently. I have found that the best way to discuss a calculator's expiry date, is by starting with something like "You know, you are more advanced than the computers that made the moon landing possible...", even though that might be a lie...but they don't have to know it...not yet.
